The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is reportedly massing its troops in several parts of the western and southwestern Aleppo countryside.
Several pro-government and opposition activists said on August 31 that large reinforcements of the army arrived in the region over the last few days.
A day earlier, Russia and Syrian warplanes carried out a series of heavy airstrikes on the remains militants’ positions in the western Aleppo countryside. Usually, the region witness less activity.
Reports on Syrian military reinforcements in western Aleppo come amid a new ceasefire in Greater Idlib. So far, the ceasefire has been holding, despite some violations by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies.
The sources claim that the SAA is preparing to launch a large ground attack from western Aleppo. However, the SAA could be just reinforcing its positions there to further secure the city.
I’m waiting to see what will happen after Idlib governorate will be full freed
Let those rats move to Turkey & Erdogan can look after them.
The best one could hope for is that they all fight to the last man. We wouldn’t want them breeding in Turkey, only to reappear years later along with more brainwashed no-hopers.
Assad will have a lot more bills to pay now [because the UN will pull out], but I’m sure he won’t mind at all, it’ll be worth every penny he has to spend.
Once the Syrian government can clear the Aleppo-Latakia highway it will be the true beginning of the end of the terrorist/Turkish occupation in Idlib.
It’s already the end for them and they know it, otherwise they wouldn’t be packing their bags and heading for the Turkish border.
I think that the M5 Damascus – Aleppo highway is a priority for Syria over the M4 Aleppo – Latakia highway.
You have a very valid point. Looking at the battle lines I would certainly agree that the Damascus – Aleppo line is going to receive priority for clearing. My point is that once the SAA achieves freedom of movement along the M4 they’ll be able to shift assets east and west in a matter of hours instead of days. Rotate their own troops into and out of the front to keep their fatigue levels at a minimum. Exploiting breakthroughs, creating crises at various points keeping the terrorists off balance and exhausted. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Jaish al-Izza’s fighters can only take captagon for so long until they’re useless zombies. It will be the beginning of the end.
That large highly mobile strike force at Hader is getting ready to go, and just a very short 60km away to the west of where they are now, is the Turkish border, and that’s exactly where they’ll head, they have a few bases to retake on the way, and then a few towns that are still pro Assad to reclaim, and then the Turkish border will be their next goal. Now we’ll get to see all the brand new shiny stuff that SAA has acquired from Russia, because there’ll be no rust buckets or badly trained soldiers in this strike force, just the best of the best, and hopefully they’re about to use all that shiny new Russian equipment to effectively split Idlib in half.
Yess, I said that just a comment above.
There are no Wahhabi reinforcements coming from Turkey anymore, because those Wahhabi terrorists are actually heading back to Turkey right now, and taking their families and friends with them. The northern areas are still too problematic for the SAA to retake just yet, but once the anti Assad civilian population begin to leave those areas it will be a lot easier, so don’t be disappointed if the SAA concentrate on the south first, the north will get it’s turn too.
Clearing western provincial Aleppo up to the Idlib boundary is long over due.
This is very good, but we need to concentrate on liberating Khabani and securing border that borders Idlib from Turkey. That way we can hinder theirs, Wahhabis reinforcements that is coming from Turkey. But surely we should open up new front, and secure, push them further away from Aleppo. The day of securing border with Turkey is not far away.
The heady days of throwing Syrian postal workers off the roofs of their building has ended. The days of beheading unbelievers and children are over. The tables have turned and no longer shall unarmed Syrian policemen risk being murdered traveling to and from work.
Every ‘jihadist’ guilty of crimes against the Syrian people , that just about includes all of them, should face a female firing squad.
Yeah, that and let them eat some bacon before they face justice.
People hope or fear that these rebel fighting formations after accepting defeat and moving into Turkey will cause havoc there… But in reality what I think will happen to them is a redeployment to other fronts. Potential options are Libya in defence of Tripoli, Yemen in pushing the Saudis, Afghan in supplimenting Taliban or Kashmir in aid of Pakistani interests.. could also be trained and kept as reserves in starting the next wave of Arab spring in Iran… Plenty of job opportunities for Idlib rebels…
