Syrian Army Killed Several ISIS Fighters Who Attempted To Flee Euphrates Valley

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies killed seven ISIS fighters, who were attempting to escape from their besieged positions in the middle Euphrates River Valley on March 2.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the terrorists sneaked out from their positions on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. However, they were detected by the army when they crossed to the western bank and approached the city of al-Bukamal.

The escape attempted occurred few hours after the beginning of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) final attack on the ISIS-held pocket in the Euphrates Valley. The pocket is supposedly besieged by the Kurdish-dominated group and its backer, the US-led coalition.

Local observers believe that the terrorists were trying to reach ISIS positions in the Homs desert. The terrorist group controls over 4,000km2 of the desert, which lays between eastern Homs and western Deir Ezzor.

Last month, the SAA carried out a combing operation in the safe areas around the Homs desert. The operation limited ISIS cells activities. However, they remain a serious threat, especially to the residential areas in northern al-Suwayda and southern Homs.

It is difficult to understand why more is not being done against these Isis cells. It is difficult to secure a large desert area, to supply troops, to motivate anyone to be stationed there, the zone around al-tanf does not make it any easier, again there are hardly any houses or infrastructure, and the SAA has already carried out dozens of operations there.

Its said that the desert areas have many caves etc. It looks to be a rugged environment.

it’s easy to understand that this is anti-Syrian propaganda.
