The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a military operation against ISIS cells around the 55km de-escalation zone, which surrounds the US-led coalition base in the border town of al-Tanaf, the Syrian pro-government al-Masdar News blog reported on December 9.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed that heavy clashes broke out between SAA and ISIS fighters around the de-escalation zone. According to the pro-opposition monitoring group, the army artillery and warplanes stuck several positions of the terrorist group in the deserts of Homs and Damascus.
Earlier this week, Russian Special Operations Forces and the SAA ambushed a group of ISIS fighters north of the de-escalation zone. Pro-government sources said that 23 terrorists were killed in the attack.
Hundreds of ISIS fighters and commanders, including foreigners, are believed to be hiding in the deserts of Homs and Damascus. Most of these fighters are highly-experienced and well-armed.
It is not clear yet if the ongoing attack on ISIS positions around the de-escalation zone is a part of a long-awaited operation to neutralize all the remaining terrorists in the deserts of Homs and Damascus. The SAA began preparing for such an operation after liberating the area of al-Safa last month.
Better be careful otherwise Isis airforce will attack them!

OK, this is long overdue.. And it will be interesting to see the US reaction to this SAA action… For if they suddenly attack the SAA, they will have exposed the truth about Al Tanf being used as a staging area for their criminal US run “ISIS” to infiltrate the entire Syrian nation.
I dont think is any more proof needed as to who created isis or who been supporting it day one with logistics. What is proof is needed now is if they ones who claimed that went into syria to stop them indeed are willing to stop them and do what ever it takes to do so, before this sickness globalist of west created infect the whole of the globe and destroy it.

De-escalation zone? up until now it’s been the US enforced 55 km exclusion zone, when did it get a new name. If you draw a straight line from any place Isis has been fighting the SAA over the last 12 months, straight to the edge of that US enforced exclusion zone, the max distance is never more than 150 km, in most places even less. What is this new De-escalation zone, I’m not so sure now, I know what it’s been up until this name change, and it hasn’t been a de-escalation zone, it’s been exactly what it’s name used to say it is was, a 55 km exclusion zone. If you use a compass and place the point in the middle of that US base at Al Tanf, then use your pencil to mark out a 55 km perimeter, that’s roughly what the exclusion zone was. That meant that no SAA personnel could approach to within 5 or 10 km of this zone without being hit by US artillery. The best artillery in the world has a range of 55 km, the French have had theirs in Deir ez Zor pounding Isis at Hajin for 5 months or more, and the US have had theirs here at Al Tanf from the beginning, this is probably why the exclusion zone was set to a specific 55 km. Last year in oct the SAA placed a ring of steel around this exclusion zone, by dec they had eradicated Isis completely from all this area, all the way north to the Euphrates river, and all the way east to the Iraqi border [excluding the ex zone]. At the time the Iraqi side of the border was under Isis control, but between the Iraqis, Syrians and the Russians they managed to wipe them out totally right up to the Iraqi side of the Euphrates, several months later Iraq by itself had also taken back control of all it’s border. Last year it took just 2 months for them to clean out Isis completely, back then the Iraqi side of the border was still under Isis control, and presumably it would have been much harder to get rid of Isis back then when the border wasn’t secured, but now with the border more or less totally secured, it should be even easier to do this time. We need another ring of SAA steel and another good dose of Russian air support. An exact repeat of what they did last year when they easily got rid of Isis would do the job perfectly. Strong SAA patrols in light armoured vehicles patrolling constantly around that exclusion zone, all within range of quickly backing up each other in case of trouble, and all just a quick radio call away from a Russian airstrike, that’s how they did it. Nothing gets into the exclusion zone and nothing gets out, unless it’s triple signed and agreed to, that will stop Isis completely, but it will also take a lot of effort, manpower and vehicles to do it, and the moment you stop, Isis will come back like the Hydra.
150km is a long distance to travel out in the open across land controlled by the Russian coalition. Russia certainly has the technology to know every thing moving in that area 24×7. So that leaves you with a choice either Russia is incompetent, inept and moronic or they let ISIS move through their territory because ISIS works for Russia.
Well that’s true, but the same could be said for the US and it’s SDF fighters, nearly 6 months to exterminate a small pocket of 1,500 men in an area roughly 30 km long and 20 km wide. The US had the SDF, US special forces, Iraqi ground troops, US and Iraqi airstrikes, and French and Iraqi artillery, all hammering this tiny pocket, if you want to point the finger at anybody for being either incompetent or collusive, I suggest you take a closer look at Hajin. The Afghani’s mange to hide from the US pretty good too, by all accounts the USA is not doing well there either.
That pocket was about to be eliminated when Erdogan and Russia came to their defense. First Erdogan attacked the Kurds villages, women and children while threatening full scale invasion. Kurds were forced to return home and defend their villages, women and children in the north. Then Russia resupplied and reinforced Hajin ISIS by transporting al Safa ISIS there to fight the US coalition.
Erdogan’s the reason they stopped fighting.
