On July 11, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) launched an attack to take back the town of al-Hamameyat, which they had lost to militants on July 10.
According to pro-government sources, SAA and NDF units already entered the outskirt of the town and started clashing with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) militants. The advance was backed by Russian and Syrian airstrikes.
Late on July 10, the SAA and the NDF retreated from the town after a series of clashes with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham that caused losses among SAA personnel and equipment.

Assad miscalculated. He overestimated the strength of the SAA on the one hand, and on the other, he underestimated Turkey’s support for the rebels . The only solution is a ceasefire agreed upon by Russia and Turkey.

SAA needs to advance somewhere else, this front is too fortified, build your defenses and restart an offensive south of Aleppo province

You fellahs might as well get used to this. The SAA should prevail since they have air support but they now are facing better trained militias that have ample supplies so will be facing a tough fight on the ground for quite some time.
