On October 5, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) liberated the villages of Salam Sharqi and Um Tuwaynah Shamali east of Salamiyah at the Hama-Homs administrative border. Salam Sharqi and Um Tuwaynah had been one of the few remaining ISIS-held villages in the area.
Earlier this week, the SAA and the NDF divided the ISIS-held pocket east of Salamiyah into two separate parts and liberated a high number of villages including Salam Gharbi, Jub Bashir, Jurf, Lujj and Tal Shehab.
