Al-Amiriyah is located on the northern outskirts of Palmyra after a fierce fight with ISIS terrorists.
It is reported by the Syrian state television SANA on Saturday that the Syrian forces have gained more grounds against ISIS terrorist in their fight around the ancient city Palmyra and liberated the town of al-Amiriyah.
“The clashes are taking place now in the al-Amiriyah neighborhood, which is Daesh’s gateway into the city,” said by an unnamed Syrian military source to a western news agency earlier.
SANA television also reported that the Syrian army liberated the town of al-Amiriyah, which is located on the northern outskirts of Palmyra after a fierce fight with ISIS terrorists.
Yesterday, it was reported that the Syrian Arab Army had liberated Syriatel of the ancient city of Palmyra from the ISIS terrorists. The Syrian Arab Army had been pounding on the ISIS holds of Ad Din Al Maani or the ancient castle near the Qassioun mountains.
On March 23, the Syrian forces and their allies imposed full control over the western slopes of Jabal Al-Tar after a violent battle with the Islamic State terrorists.
Since May 2015, Palmyra, a historic Syrian city, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, has been under control of ISIS terrorists.
The agreement was negotiated by Russia and the United States. Many suggest that Washington is among the main supporters of terrorists fighting against the Syrian government forces.
Nevertheless, the Arab country is currently observing an agreement for the cessation of hostilities which entered into force on February 27. The agreement stipulates the cessation of all military hostilities in Syria, except for the operations against ISIS terrorist group and al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front militants.
