The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have liberated from ISIS the village of Madiuna southwest of the ISIS-stronghold of al-Bab in the Syrian province of Aleppo.
Meanwhile, pro-Turkish militant groups, backed by the Turkish Armed Forces, seized the village of Amiyah which had been controlled by ISIS east of al-Bab.
Turkish forces have also counter-attacked against ISIS in Seflaniye and took back this village, according to some sources. This still has to be confirmed.
SAA is 7 km away from the Al Bab outskirts.
What’s the end game here? Turkey won’t just leave, they want Assad and the Kurds weakened. Their army is gigantic, many times the size of Syria’s even before this war killed so many of its soldiers, what do the SAA plan to achieve here? A stalemate? Letting Turkey take Al Bab but grabbing everything south of it?
Do you think the Turks are competent after the failed coupe attempt purge on its military?
Failed large scale US-backed terror attack*
Yes a stalemate. I think stop lines have been agreed to by both sides. SAA just may stop short of Al Bab, and continue east against ISUS. Russia and Turkey have worked out a deal. Erdogan understand the limits of FSA ally (they seem to abandon his troops when the shit hits the fan).
Those 2 maps are pretty different. On one SAA looks very close to Al Bab but on the other one they look like they’re double the distance away.
SAA is 7 km away from the Al Bab silos which are de facto the outskirts of the city.
