The Syrian army has liberated the village of al-Buwaydiyah in the Western Ghouta region near the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Al-Buwaydiyah is located east of the important militant-contolled town of Khan al-Sheih. It had been controlled by the joint militant forces of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch).
The nearby town of Khan al-Sheih is a major militant stronghold that is currently target of the Syrian military operation.
