Syrian Army Liberates Qa’a al-Banat In Al-Safa Region

Illustrative image

On October 4, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated Qa’a al-Banat in the northwestern part of the heavily fortified area of al-Safa after weeks of clashes with ISIS fighters, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The SANA’s reporter in the governorate of al-Suwayda said that Syrian soldiers killed several ISIS members and destroyed many weapons, fortifications and hideouts of the terrorist group in Qa’a al-Banat.

The liberation of Qa’a al-Banat is one of the biggest achievements since the beginning of the SAA military operation in al-Safa, which is located north of al-Suwayda. The operation was launched in early August after a brutal ISIS attack on several villages in the eastern al-Suwayda countryside.

The SAA will likely step up its operations in Qabr al-Sheikh, near Qa’a al-Banat, in the upcoming days in order to increase the pressure on the remaining ISIS fighters in the heart of al-Safa.

Well, keep doing even better, otherwise it does not look the end of terrorists fighting in this area.

“killed several ISIS members and destroyed many weapons, fortifications and hideouts”

Wish there were some pictures or videos of the hideouts, fortifications, etc. before or after their destruction. But couldn’t some of the weapons be used by the SAA itself?

Bill Wilson

What they showed in the past were walls of stacked rocks and holes hacked out of hillsides. The destroyed weapons probably were crude home made rocket launchers, mortars and rounds for those. I doubt if the SAA reuses junk like that and has become leery of hauling off explosive rounds that weren’t used against them during the assault.

Very nice SAA ?

Good, but it is still not good enough.

I fear this will continue as long as the US occupies Jordan. Jordan needs to be freed.

Jim Prendergast

Congratulations to the SAA.
