The Syrian Arab Army and its allies have liberated Quds Mosque and nearby buildings in the Yarmouk refugee camp area in southern Damascus from ISIS, according to pro-government sources.
This advance is a part of wider push by government forces to re-capture the western part of the Yarmouk refugee camp from the terrorist group and to shorten the frontline in the western and southern parts of the pocket.

Syrians and their allies have tightened the US and their buddies assaes in Syria. Now they watch their buddies in Southern Damascus and in Homs/Deir Ezzor but cannot help them. Now they should cry more to Syria but Syria have to take every single inch of their own land from Damascus to Hassaka and from Deir Ezzor to Idlib/Aleppo. 70% land already have been liberated alongwith Syrian hostages from US gang and the remaining land alongwith hostages will be liberated with in four or five months. The pocket of resistance is slowly captured. I just wonder: who profits of a shorter front line: attackers or defenders? If the front line is longer (irregular shape with salliants), there are less defenders in each house, so a breakthrough would be easier, right? On the other hand, arty has to be very careful not to hit friendly targets. So many factors. What’s the consensus at the moment?
Depends. Shorter frontlines allows defenders to make do with less troops, freeing up troops to act as a reserve in case of attacks, whereas longer frontlines forces them to overextend themselves, leaving them vulnerable as they lack now lack reserves to counter possible breakthroughs. On the downside, the more they get squeezed into a smaller pocket, the easier it becomes for enemy firepower to be concentrated and the more lethal it can become. And as the frontline shortens it allows the enemy to concentrate even greater overwhelming force at its chosen point of attack. It’s also not good for morale to be constantly on the retreat and be squeezed into a smaller pocket.
there are advantages and disadvantages to both, but you got to eliminate the pocket at some point, which means frontlines will get shortened regardless.
If no civilians are left it is perhaps time to let thermobarics do their work in the tunnels of Yarmouk.
