The Syrian Armed Forces took the opportunity to make an offensive east towards the Tabaqa Military Airport base when ISIS defenses collapsed near the desert-city of Ithriyah in the Al-Raqqa Governorate’s southwestern countryside.
On Wednesday morning, the Syrian Arab Army, Desert Hawks Brigade, Golani Regiment, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Jerusalem Brigade supported by the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces liberated several small hilltops en route to the strategic village of Marina in the Al-Raqqa countryside and advancing east along the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway.

The Tabaqa Military Airport base was captured by the terrorist group in August 2014.
