Syrian Army Loses Contact With Unit In East Homs As Battle With ISIS Heats Up

Illustrative image

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has lost contact with one of its units in eastern Homs where a fierce battle with ISIS remnants is taking place, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on July 4.

The army’s unit, which consisted of 25 service members, allegedly went missing while they were engaged in heavy clashes with the terrorist group. These claims are yet to be confirmed.

The ongoing battle in eastern Homs started with an attack by ISIS cells on SAA positions there on July 2. The Russian Aerospace Forces are reportedly providing army troops in the region with air support.

According to the SOHR, two Syrian service members and five terrorists of ISIS were killed in eastern Homs late on July 4.

“The death toll of regime forces and the militants loyal to them reached 20, while the death toll of the organization [ISIS] members is 31 … The number of those killed may rise as many of the wounded [on both sides] are in a critical condition,” the monitoring group said in its report.

Hundreds of ISIS fighters and commanders are now taking shelter in Homs desert, which lays between eastern Homs and wester Deir Ezzor.

The terrorists likely launched their attack in an attempt to capture additional resources that would help them survive during the summer. Now, they are being depleted.

Syrian army needs to get its act together or call in the Houthis who can find them and ISIS.

Fog of War

This is all Russia’s fault however.

Free man

“This is all Russia’s fault however. ” – You don’t give up. LOL. In recent days, SAA soldiers from the units established by the Russians are fighting ISIS in Homs, backed by the Russian air force (As posted here yesterday) with great success.

Fog of War

Yes, its so successful it just keeps going, and going, and going forever.

Free man

Only recently have the Russians entered the bases that the Iranian forces have left in this area. It will indeed be a long struggle.

Fog of War

However, Russia ” encouraged ” their departure so thats not a valid excuse.

Free man

I did not write this as an excuse just as a fact.

Free man

“call in the Houthis…” – A good joke. The pro Russian SAA units , backed by the Russian Air Force will do great without the Houthis or any other Iranian militia.

Ronald

The Houthi are only “Iranian militia” in the minds of Americans who don’t know where Yemen is on a map.

Icarus Tanović

Yes, that’s right.

Free man

Any militia that receives weapons from Iran and promotes Iranian interests is an Iranian militia to me. Did the guy suggest transferring them to Syria as a Yemeni or Iranian militia? What interest does Yemen have in Syria? Why does Syria need more foreign militias in its territory? I believe that very soon everyone will realize that Russia and its loyal SAA units are doing a great job against ISIS.

Ronald

The Houthi promote Houthi interests, both are against the Saudi Wahhaabi jihadists, the Houthi in Yemen, the Iranians, Hezbollah and the Russians in Syria against ISIS and the MB, Al Qaeda affiliates.

Assad must stay

i hope contact is regained and all daeshbags are turned into fertilizer

Lone Ranger

Would be about time.

Zionism = EVIL

Sorry, but that is unlikely as the Americunts have rearmed ISIS and Russia is too weak and collaborating with the Zionist cunts and Turkey to keep this conflict going. Last year the Iranians and the allied militias were on the verge of liberating Idlib and then little Putin, against the advice of his own generals in Syria, all of whom disappeared, cut a deal with Erdogan and the terrorists. Now Turkey is too well entrenched and has effectively annexed Idlib and even the kids their now speak Turkish and go to Turkish schools. This is the same pattern of annexation the Zionist used in Palestine by eradicating the culture and language of the occupied people.

Assad must stay

cmon zionism i want some optimism from you lol

Zionism = EVIL

I am a realist and not a fan of Putin, whose only interest is in protecting the Jew oligarchs and Zionists. This was confirmed by a Russian friend of mine who told me that the Russian military is as frustrated as the Syrians. I had known this all along, but this guy is close of the inner workings of the military. There is no way on earth that a high tech country like Russia with powerful radars and satellites would not know much in advance about even a bird flying out of Occupied Palestine, let alone daily F-16 and F-15 strike packages overflying Lebanon, Jordan and Saudi airspace and launching missiles at Syria and Iraq. The only option that will work is to attack the Zionists and engage them in a painful land war as they simply will have to mobilize all their manpower. Even if Syria loses some land and assets, in the long run as Lebanon and Hezbollah proved the Zionist cunts simply do not have the manpower or resources to fight beyond a few weeks. The simple logic of warfare is to impose a deterrent cost and so far no one has challenged the Zionist cunts in Syria.

Assad must stay

Is there anything we can do to change it?

“Boycotting Turkey is not merely an attempt to economically disrupt a billion-dollar business empire that profits from massacre, authoritarianism and intimidation. It is also an ethical stance against the exploitation, terrorization and annihilation of the Kurdish people and other communities, targeted by the nationalist state mentality of Turkey. Boycotting Turkey means saying NO to the normalization and white-washing of dictatorship and genocidal politics.”

Dilar Dirik, Kurdish academic and activist

Four reasons to boycott Turkey

Turkey is a fascist state

The Turkish State was founded 100 years ago on the back of Armenian, Greek and Assyrian genocides. Many of today’s Turkish elite made their fortunes from the property of those who fled, or were massacred.

In 2015, peace negotiations between the Turkish State and the PKK collapsed. The state attacked the civilian population with a ferocity not seen since the 1990s.

The military attacked towns and villages, installed rolling military curfews during which anyone seen on the street would be shot. Whole neighbourhoods and villages were razed to the ground.

Since a failed coup attempt in July 2016, an ongoing crackdown has seen hundreds of thousands of people arrested and dismissed from work; over 180 media outlets were shut down and hundreds of journalists arrested. No dissenting voices are tolerated. Turkey now has more journalists behind bars than any other country on Earth.

Turkish President Erdoğan has rewritten the constitution to give himself absolute power, and has imprisoned a large number of the political opposition.

The Turkish economy is highly dependent on tourism

In 2017, Turkey’s GDP amounted to around $851.52 billion USD, but this plummeted to $713.51 billion in 2018. Unemployment is steadily rising. The economy reportedly contracted by 2.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2019.

Still, the number of foreigners visiting Turkey increased almost 22% from 2017 to 2018. The Turkish economy is increasingly reliant on tourism.

Tourism in Turkey funds genocide, ethic cleansing and war. There is a direct relationship between the tourist industry in Turkey, the Erdoğan regime and the arms trade. Money spent on your holiday may be spent on killing Kurds.

According to figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in 2018 alone, tourism accounted for an income of $29.5 billion USD and the same year Turkey’s military budget was raised by 24% to $19 billion USD.

To put it bluntly: the more tourists enjoy Turkey’s beaches, the more Kurds will die.

Erdoğan’s power base is reliant on a stable economy

In May 2018, Forbes reported that “since Erdogan became President in August of 2014, the Lira has lost a stunning 56% of its value”, describing the Lira as Erdoğan’s ‘Achille’s heel’.

Erdogan’s power and stability is based, among other things, on the distribution of a lot of money to his supporters and followers. When the economy goes down, support for Erdoğan also falls. As Kurdish activist Ercan Ayboğa points out, “When he is not able to give money to his followers any more, the whole system can break.”

Boycott campaigns have a history of success

The boycott of South African goods, and the cultural and academic boycott campaign that was active from the 1960s to the 1990s is widely acknowledged to have played a significant part in ending the apartheid system in that country.

The Palestinian ‘Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions’ (BDS) movement to boycott Israeli goods and cultural products began in 2005, largely modelled on the South Africa campaign. has been very effective

in raising awareness about the plight of Palestinians and in successfully pressuring international companies to pull out of their contracts on occupied Palestinian land.

“The boycott is important because the Turkish state finances it’s war and repression of the Kurds in Bakur [Turkey] and Syria with a lot of money. It’s very important that the Turkish State has less money for the repression of society and the Kurds, and for its wars. We have to attack it wherever we can, and to make the economy of Turkey as weak as possible.”

– Kurdish activist Ercan Ayboga

100% true. Thanks 4 sharing

Icarus Tanović

Let’s just get rid of this Zionistic puppet Erdogan, the dog.

Lone Ranger

Why isn’t those CIAisis faglets bombed to dust in the desert? Russia has sat Intel, drone Intel, signal Intel… They have the jets and helos, so do it. Now!!!!

Cromwell

They should be able to locate the bastards, like i have said before the rats can’t survive without logistics, they should have drones and aircraft in the air 24/7,then send in some combat choppers and shred them, they should also have special forces in the area.

Zionism = EVIL

Seriously kids, you guys live in a world of fantasy, the inept SAA would not last a day without Iranian help and allied Shia militias. Russia is not there to help Syria but maintain its bases in Tartus and Latakia. Putin is working hand in hand with the Zionists. If Russia was really interested in securing Syria, it would have never allowed the Turkeys to annex the best parts of Syria and let the Americunts control the oilfields. Russia did not even respond when the Turks shot down Russian aircraft and killed Russian soldiers, same story with Zionists shooting down the IL-20 spy plane. As I have said before, it suits Russian and Zionist agenda to keep this conflict going. If Russia was serious, it could have deployed large numbers of aircraft and soldiers and armed Iran. We saw the same story in Afghanistan circa 1980’s so this not surprising to seasoned observers. In the end it will be up to the Axis of Resistance and regional situation to liberate Syria. This conflict has a long way to go. The shame is that the stupid Arabs playing into Americunt and Zionist hands have ruined generations of their young men with needless conflicts and destroyed their future and implemented the Zionist evil agenda and Yinon plan. I was just reading a UNICEF report that over 50 million children from Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria. Gaza, Palestine to Libya now have no access of schooling and when they grow up their own future is only violence and poverty, quite sad.

Jens Holm

No realisme from both of You. You not even know who You aqre figthing against and for that amatter FOR.

Phoron

Looks like the east Homs operation thats been going on is a battle of attrition which ISIS is unlikely to win, but theyre nothing if not resilient. They have very well hidden bases most assuredly deep inside the cave complexes there. It could take years to root all of them out…

Lone Ranger

It would take only a couple of FOABs. And 5mins to finish them. They must have mossad and cia operators embedded otherwise they would be toast a long time ago.

Cromwell

Thats a good point,i always said they have had help from foreign forces in all the areas from when the battle for Aleppo was on,they probably left on a green bus with the other scum.

Jens Holm

As I wrote yesterday it was mentioned at Our text TV news, that 44 died at Sukna and the mainparts were from ISIS. Several was wounded. I do not know the source.

It culd be the same incident(s).

Brian Michael Bo Pedersen

Losing contact with command/other units is not per se a deathsentence to a professional and disciplined unit. Every unit and individual soldier (should) know what to do in case of “comming off net”.

The best of luck to the SAA units and Syria.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Isis fighters don’t go back to their hidden bases after a battle, they go back to their homes, then they go to battle again the next day. It’s hard to find them because they’re not really hiding, so to really get rid of them you have to go to their homes and find them, because these guys aren’t mostly foreign mercenaries like they used to be, they’re all locally homegrown now, and most of them come from southern Deir ez Zor, not Homs.
