In early hours on July 13, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) foiled an attack by ISIS terrorists on its military points in the desert area in the south of Raqqa province.
SAA soldiers and allied groups were ambushed by ISIS fighters near the village of al-Rusafa. According to the reports, the clashes left 15 dead and wounded among the terrorists. 3 dead and 5 injured were reported on the SAA side.
Bashar Suleiman was an Alawite from the Hama countryside. He was conscripted at the start of the war & served for more than 8 years. After being released he couldn’t feed his family, so a few days ago he reenlisted.

Following the ISIS attack, Russian warplanes launched more than 20 air raids on of the ISIS hideouts in the Syrian al-Rusafa.
SAA soldiers, supported by helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS), are repeatedly targeting ISIS cells in the Syrian desert.
Fight against ISIS spread in Central Syria is not likely nearing its end, as deadly terrorist attacks are carried out on a regular basis in this region. However, joint efforts led to the significant containment of the terrorist group’s activity.
