Syrian Army Pounds Militants In Hama, Idlib And Aleppo

Illustrative image

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) shelled several opposition-held towns in the countryside of Hama, Idlib and Aleppo on February 2, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The pro-opposition monitoring group said that the shelling was focused on the towns of al-Lataminah, Kafr Zita and al-Zakah in Hama, the towns of al-Ziyarah and Qasabiyeh in Idlib and the town of Khalsa in Aleppo. No civilians were reportedly injured or killed as a result of the shelling.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said that the artillery strikes were a response to new violations of the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement. According to the state-run agency, the new violations included several infiltration attempts in the northern Hama countryside.

Under the demilitarized zone agreement, radical militants should not have any presence within a 15-20km reduce around Idlib. The militants should also withdraw all of their heavy weapons out of the zone.

The militants are yet to comply with the agreement and Turkey has not taken any serious steps to enforce it so far. On the other side, Russia and its allies appear to be unwilling to apply a military solution.

Stop pounding terrorists and just initiates the offensive on these places to get rid of terrorists. If you do not do this, SAA will have to pound terrorists forever and ever, and just waiting for the next suicide bombing attack anywhere in Syria.

Putin can’t get his tongue out of Erdogan’s ass long enough to do that.
