The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies have liberated the village of Quriyah from ISIS in the province of Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Defense Ministry announced on November 28.
Quriyah had been remaining the last ISIS-held point after the previous SAA advances in this area. With its liberation the ISIS-held pocket south of al-Mayadin does not exist more.
However, no photos or videos are still available from Quriyah. This could indicate that the town and its vicinity are still full of IEDs planted by ISIS.
When the area is fully secured, the SAA will be able to focus on advancing towards the government-held town of al-Bukamal from the northwestern direction.
