On Saturday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) captured several points inside the town of Beit Naim located in the southern part of the Eastern Ghouta region near Dammascus. The SAA managed to advance in the area after heavy clashes and shelling on the positions of Jaish al-Islam in the Marj area and inside the town of Beit Naim.
From its side, Jaish al-Islam targeted SAA positions in the area of Hawsh al-Dawahra. Jaish Al-Islam used battle tanks.
This was the second attack of the SAA on the town of Beit Naim since the beginning of the agreement of the safe zones. In early May, the SAA tried to capture Beit Naim. The SAA in the area of Ghouta and the vicinity of Damascus follows a plan based on a need to secure the capital. This is why it continues putting pressure on militants in the area.
Jaish al-Islam is considered the main reason behind the failure of the recent talks in Astana, and recently failed to confirm its strength in Eastern Ghouta when Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Al-Rahman Corps expelled fighters of Jaish al-Islam from several positions in the region.
It seems that the Syrian government has found that Jaish al-Islam is unable to deliver its promises regarding the agreement of the safe zones, prompting it to advance out of the fear that HTS – linked to Al Qaeda – may control eastern Ghouta, which means a major threat to the capital Damascus.
i hope it goes so fast, fuck them all (JaI, HTS, etc.)
