Syrian government forces have renewed efforts to capture the strategic area of T-2 Pumping Station near the border with Iraq.
The pumping station is now controlled by ISIS terrorists. An intense fighting is ongoing in its vicinity, according to pro-government sources. The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq has already claimed that ISIS members have destroyed a Syrian Arab Army battle tank with an anti-tank guided missile.
If government troops are able to capture T-2 Pumping Station, ISIS will lost its last important strong point south of the border city of al-Bukamal. This will open additional opportunities for the Syrian-Iranian-Russian alliance’s operations in the border area.

Israel wants a pipeline from its oily Kurdish mafia in northern Iraq to go through Jordan to Haifa. If the Syrians rebuild the Tripoli line first, then there’s not enough profits for another export terminal at Haifa or a new pipeline to there.
Syria itself can’t rebuild anything. Rosneft or the Chinese CNPC can rebuild the Tripoli (Banias) pipeline very fast.
This is a completely different matter than the players/goals in potential GAS pipeline routes. The gas pipeline wars are mostly about Saudi/Qatar vs. Iran and building the pipeline from scratch – none ever existed.

There’s only the crude oil pipeline running to to Turkey and on to Ceyhan. The Russian deal is for a gas pipeline.
It states “Israel has NO OIL resources”.. it does have very small oil reserve. However its gas reserves are bigger than Syria’s.
Syria only has around 2.5 bln barrels of oil reserves and 80% of that is considered to be very low grade garbage that contains 4% sulfur, 50% asphalt and the rest mostly kerosene and naptha (mineral spirits/paint thinner). Their . Israel and Jordan have huge deposits (ten’s of billions of Barrels) of kerogen that can be converted in-situ into light sweet crude by heating. They may swap finished products for Syrian asphalt (road paving) and sulfur (for chemical processing).
Syria has two recognized grades of crude: the heavy, sour Souedieh grade (central and far northeast), and light, sweet Syria Light grade from around Deir EzZor. The Souedieh isn’t necessarily garbage – EU countries seemed eager to buy it back when Syria exported it. Syria’s refineries were not built to handle it, but they can when blended with Syria Light.
The big prize in oil for Syria will be the billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of natural gas waiting to be developed offshore. No figures have been published, but French Veritas gave those figures after seismic studies. Lebanon is also oil/gas rich offshore, but too screwed up politically for foreign companies to invest.
Israel (not familiar with Jordan) has maybe a couple hundred billion barrels in shale oil deposits in place, but recovery rate is only in the low single digits. Genie discovered a large deposit under the Syria’s Golan but seems in no hurry to develop it. Israel hasn’t bothered developing any of their Sinai shale-oil deposits because it has been uneconomical to do so. The eventual availability of cheap Leviathan gas required to heat the kerogen may change that. Nice to have those reserves if oil ever goes over $100/bbl again.

That’s a long abandoned airbase which was used by ISIS as a munitions depot. In early Spring the US/FSA had captured the T2 station, surrounded the airbase and the highway all the way up to near the T3 station then sat there for the longest time waiting for the Sissy Arab Army to fight their past the small ISIS garrisons to take possession of them. The Sissy’s generals sent whatever they could scrape up from the bottom of the recruitment barrel but those Shi;ite chit heads had no stomach for fighting ISIS so went after the coalition forces to the south and got their dumbass’s blown to bits.

All the pumping stations in Syria and Iraq have a military airfield next to them. Not sure about your ‘game over’ comment unless you’re referring to the strategic impact of an ISIS loss of that base. It was an important logistics hub for them, but useless ever since Syria cut off the CIA-Jordanian arms supply rat line. The only use now seems to me to be to slow down the SAA advance on al Bukamal.
The pumping station and turbines have been useless for years. The SAA could just level the place to exterminate the head-choppers and build a new pumping station on top of their graves.

So what we see on map is significant ISIS resistance against SAA – slowing the eastward advance to Al-Bukamal, whilst meanwhile, the SDF/US SOF are moving southward facing minimal ISIS resistance. That all seems rather convenient for US interests – yet again. The real story of this war is the SAA has had to fight multiple militant factions who always collude, directly and indirectly, together against the Syrian state. In the end, it will be entirely the SAA that defeats ISIS – yet the western state leaderships and media will never ever give them their due credit.
