Units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) repelled an attack by ISIS cells in the area east of Palmyra in the province of Homs. According to pro-government sources, the SAA eliminated at least 3 militants. Casualties among pro-government forces were also reported.
The desert area in the provinces of Homs and Deir Ezzor is flooded by ISIS cells. The terrorists are using the no-man zone around the US-controlled area of al-Tanf as a safe haven and a ftoohold for further operation.
The complicated situation in northwestern Syria and the continuing security operations in southern Syria do not allow Damascus to allocate the needed forces to deal with this threat in the nearest future.

I suspect that the UK SAS is training the tactics employed by the Long Range Desert Group and SAS in WW2 during the desert campaign in Libya.
The greatest weakness of the terrorists is Syrian surveillance from the sky and heavens that were not as advanced as they have become today.
I suspect this a primary reason for Israels attacks on Iranian drone capabilities in Syria. The US Coalition of Terror satellites are also able to track SAA movements on the ground. One way to thwart this by the SAA is constant movement without creating temporary desert bases AND/OR creating dummy bases to bait the US terror gangs in my humble opinion.
Its hard work for the troops, but a strategy that might work. The SAA and allies will have already studied the WW2 LRDG exploits I suspect :)
All of these terrorist forays hope to return to base, so constant observation of all escape routes is also paramount as this is when the terrorists are most vulnerable

Hence the Israeli attacks on SAA and allies drone facilities. Politically, the US and NATO cannot do this and the Israelis have taken the baton.

Western Countries hate Assad as he and the SAA + Allies are all that prevents the Western Nations from continuing a long held tradition of imposing regimes that are willing to supply cheap goods to the West at the expense of the foreign citizens in general.

Syrians of course know their desert quite well, only previously it wasn’t full of roaming hostile SF operatives and their minions. Many underground facilities have been dug in the hills and desert for hidden ammo depots and food storage. They are gathering intel about these sites so that when it comes to the scouring stage, it will be done swiftly and completely. It will make an interesting study when it’s all charted and revealed.
It does not help that SAA has a Command very weak on basic strategy or is overwhelmed by lack of crack units and reliable proxies. NDF as holding forces has proven time and again to be non functional. Badly armed, badly trained, weak officer corps and bad morale. When they are also in short supply, then in fact there are no holding forces and IS can do what it wants. SAA must fortify all strategic points in the Badiya, have many roving patrols of crack troops, use local intelligence and drone/areal plus satellite surveillance.

Who filmed the video? What date was it filmed? How do you or anyone know who was in all those trucks-not ISIS, since they do not have nearly a large enough contingent to field such a large fleet of trucks. Who was in the early helicopter scene, and how does anyone know that the flying helicopter really flew over those unidentified trucks? How is it possible that such a video was allowed to be made if it really is what you say?
