The Syrian army has repelled an attack by the Al-Rahman Legion militant group in the Eastern Ghouta region near the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Al-Rahman Legion militants stormed the Syrian army positions at al-Zabaltani and al-Barid on Friday but failed to break the government forces’ defenses. The militants lost some 14 fighters in this failed attack. 3 Syrian army soldiers were killed.
Another militant group operating in Eastern Ghouta, Jaish al-Islam, is now in negotiations with the government. If the negotiations succeed, Jaish al-Islam will pass the city of Douma to the Syrian army and withdraw to the province of Idlib.
