The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) repelled several attacks of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) on its positions west of the city of Aleppo in the early hours of April 27, a military source told SouthFront.
Iba’a, a news network affiliated with the terrorist group, confirmed that several positions of the SAA near the towns of Khan Tuman and Harisha were attacked overnight. A spokesman for HTS told the network that 45 soldiers and officers of the army were killed during the clashes.
These claims were completely bashed by the military sources, who told SouthFront that the SAA didn’t suffer from any notable loses. In turn, HTS lost dozens of its fighters, whose bodies are still in the battlefield, according to the source.
Last week, HTS and one of its key allies, al-Qaeda affiliated Horas al-Din, killed more than 20 soldiers and officers of the SAA in two separate attacks in western Aleppo and northern Lattakia. Following these attacks, the army took more majors to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Today’s attacks in western Aleppo indicate that HTS and its allies are determined to continue their hostile activities. Local observers believe that only a large-scale military operation in Idlib could put an end to this threat.
