AlMasdarNews reports: The Syrian Arab Army’s High Command replaced the top commander of the 17th Reserve Division after several days of speculation around the Deir Ezzor and Al-Hasakah governorates.
A military source told Al-Masdar News on Wednesday that General Mohammad Khaddour of the 17th Reserve Division has been replaced by Major General Hassan Mohammad.
General Khaddour served as the commander of the 17th Division since his transfer from the Aleppo Governorate in early 2013.
The latest change in the eastern Syria command has been rumored for quite some time; especially, after the Russian military advisers arrived in late September 2015.
Not much is known about Major General Hassan Mohammad, other than his participation in the battle of Al-Qamishli against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
