Syrian Army restarts east Homs offensive to liberate Deir Ezzor

AlMasdarNews reports: The Syrian Arab Army’s 67th Brigade of the 18th Tank Division – backed by the 60th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division and National Defense Forces (NDF) – have made the necessary preparations to restart the important offensive to liberate the International Highway between Palmyra and the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

According to a member of the 67th Brigade, the Syrian Armed Forces will be attacking the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) terrorists from two different flanks: T-3 Pumping Station and International Road.

The T-3 Pumping Station attack by the Syrian Armed Forces will seek to block the ISIS militants from sending reinforcements and supplies to the Palmyra (Tadmur) front via the city of Abukamaal.

While one unit attacks the T-3 Pumping Station, the main force from the Syrian Arab Army will launch an assault at the integral desert-town of ‘Arak, which is located along the International Highway.

If ‘Arak is liberated, then the Syrian Armed Forces will be within striking distance of the oil rich town of Al-Sukhanah; this site is the location of the last ISIS position before the Deir Ezzor border.
