On August 12, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and local fighters imposed control of the administrative border between the governorates of al-Suwayda and Damascus in the framework of their military operations against ISIS, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The SANA’s reporter in al-Suwayda said that the remaining fighters of ISIS are now fully besieged in the area of al-Safa in the northern countryside of the governorate.

A day earlier, the SAA liberated 21 areas in northern al-Suwayda, including the key area of al-Kar’a, which is located near al-Safa.
The Syria-based al-Suwayda 24 blog said that the SAA artillery is now shelling the remaining positions and hideouts of ISIS in al-Safa.
The SAA will face great difficulties while advancing in al-Safa because the area is heavily fortified. Furthermore, ISIS fighters may be hiding around 30 civilian hostages, who were abducted by the terrorist group two weeks ago, in the area.
