Syrian Army Resumes Offensive In Southeast Idlib, Liberates First Town

Support SouthFront

Late on January 24, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed its large-scale ground operation in the southeastern part of the Greater Idlib region.

According to pro-government sources, army units stormed the town of Deir Sharqi under the cover of artillery fire. The town was fully secured within a few hours.

The army’s elite 25th Special Forces Division, previously known as the Tiger Forces, is leading the ground attack. The unit didn’t participate in a previous attack, which was repelled by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies.

Meanwhile, local sources are reporting heavy bombardment by the SAA on militants’ positions in the outskirt of Aleppo city. The unprecedented shelling suggest that the army may launch a ground attack there very soon.

In the last few weeks, the SAA amassed a large strike force led by the elite 4th Division in Aleppo in preparations for an attack around the city.

HTS and its allies could find their forces in a very tough position if the SAA opted to advance in southeast Idlib and southwest Aleppo simultaneously. A move that could neutralize these terrorist groups, once and for all.

That is not only good, but it is and excellent news. I hope Russia air support be unstoppable by ….

John Wallace

No more ceasefires .

Azriel Herskowitz

Only results of this will mean dozens of civilian deaths. Disgusting that the butcher regime and Russia are able to do this without consequences. POTUS needs to put more sanctions on the regime at the very least.

Z.P.

Civilian deaths are only specialty of IsraHELL terrorists. Tigers kill only US & Jew sponsored terrorist pigs.

Karen Bartlett

By “butcher regime” you must mean Israel, judging by the hundreds of unarmed Palestinian protesters killed, and thousands permanently maimed by IDF sniper fire, at the Naqba demonstrations. Among those Palestinians killed and wounded, besides women and children, were journalists reporting on the shootings and medics who went out to treat the wounded, both latter groups wearing signs clearly marking them as Press and Medics. and POTUS is a joke, clearly under the domination of the butcher regime, Israel.

John

Very well spoken.

Mike

Get a life and real job there jacob whul.

verner

nah what is needed is the total evisceration of the hymies occupying palestine, i.e. a complete liberation of palestine to put an end to the ethnic cleansing program the jews are running and an end to concentration camp gaza (central in the killing of palestinians to make it palestinianfrei) and an end to the lebensraum program a la hitler stealing land in the jordan valley, the west bank, golan heights as well as jerusalem and an end to the jew’s plan to steal the gas under palestinian seabed and sell it to the european union.

the jews are so toast that idiots like yourself don’t even come close to comprehend it.

goingbrokes

Lol! No no no, they are jihadist militant extremists, not civilians!

Z.P.

Go on Tigers and SAA make the decisive victory and brake their moral and their resistance! Send them back to their daddy Erdogan !

King Cliff

No cease fire at all.

Karen Bartlett

Go SAA, and God is going with you!

Gabriel Hollows

Finally. Crush them all.

truly excellent :))))

Thank God the Russians are there to help the SAA NOT fight like ever other Arab army.

I was just going to post on the ‘SAA massive casualties’ article how critical it is to keep advancing. A frozen battle line is exactly how you demoralize the SAA – or any other army for that matter. The U.S., Israel and Saudis are aware of that an do everything in their power to prevent any further SAA advances. The Russians know exactly WTF they’re doing here. They willingly agree to ridiculous cease-fires with the head-choppers, but always have the SAA planning for the next head-chopper beating and SAA advance. The day will come when the Russian bow out of Syrian military affairs and leaves national defense in the hands of a well-led, motivated, professional Syrian army. Oh, the U.S. can do that, too. For example, look at our success in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Vitex

…except the US does it to their enemies and the Russians appear to do it to their friends :)

Pave Way IV

Well, sure… but only if you want to get all technical about the details.

BMWA1

IDK about massive. Massive to me means something along the lines of Verdun, Somme.

Pave Way IV

I’m not sure there were any. The head-choppers were the ones claiming some crazy numbers of casualties. Probably to distract everyone from AIPAC/CENTCOM’s math challenges regarding counting injured solders.

Vitex

Well, bombardment usually precedes an advance in most military doctrines that I’ve heard of

iosongasingsing

The Syrians often use the hit and run tactic, attack, force the rats to reveal their positions, disintegrate them and then flatten with tanks.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Two battlefronts is a good idea for all the right reasons, but where the second battlefront is opened is a totally different consideration, a second battlefront in Aleppo presents additional problems for the SAA it doesn’t need right now, but another front opened in southern Idlib or even northern Hama wouldn’t have the same complications, hopefully that’s where they do open a new battlefront, well away from the heavy populated civilian areas.

Assad must stay

yay about time!!!! resume the snapping of the necks and cashing of the checks hahahaha
