The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Syrian Republican Guard (SRG) have successfully entered the important village of ash-Sholah and took control of it after a firefight with ISIS units, according to pro-government sources.
Ash-Sholah is located at the strategic Sukhna-Deir Ezzor highway and if the SAA and the SRG are able to secure it from ISIS attacks, they will be able to use the village as a launching pad for a push towards the Panorama Junction in southern Deir Ezzor.
The government advance is ongoing amid intense airstrikes by Russian and Syrian warplanes. Russian attack helicopters provide a close air support to the government assault force.
Earlier today, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian warplanes have killed ISIS’ minister of war, Gulmurod Khalimov, and other field commanders near Deir Ezzor. This could impact the ISIS ability to defend its positions inside and outside the city.
Good stuff.
great news and more to come in the near future ….. .God bless and protect the victors
My advice would be first clear those packets along the river, especially north of DZ. Link the DZ Airport and establish buffer zone for about 35 km around the Airport, before crossing the river
very, very good news…
now isreal has startted to capture some area of syria like turkey has captured in the north. very bad neighbours of syria.
We know Israel begging for war.
Israel already captured some part of Syria long ago, it’s called the Golan Heights.
Good, that means that hopefully soon the whole road will be secured, which is important to secure reinforcements to Deir Ezzor (DE).
With the new attack south of As-Sukhna, the salient hopefully will be cleaned out too, shortening the front line and securing at least a part of the southern flank of the road towards DE.
We will see how long the airport in DE still has to hold out, but connection to it from the North West hopefully won’t be too difficult to establish. It is important to relieve this part too, in order to prevent a probable successful assault on it. With the road finally secured, that will probably the next target. and will be necessary for a staging ground anyway.
How many villages are still in the hands of al-Baghdadi?
