In new violations of the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement, radical militants from the “Wa Harid al-Muminin” operations room targeted several positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northwestern Hama countryside and the southwestern Aleppo countryside with heavy machine guns.
The SAA retaliated to these violations within few hours and shelled several positions of the militants in the towns of Ma’arrat, Kafr Hamrah and the Shuaihinah mount northwest and west of the city of Aleppo.
The Wa Harid al-Muminin operations room was formed in late October by al-Qaeda-affiliated Jamat Ansar al-Islam, Horas al-Din, Jabhat Ansar al-Islam and Ansar al-Tawhid. Since its establishment, the operations room has been openly working to sabotage the deconfliction agreement in Idlib.
Turkey is yet to take any action to force these radical groups to respect the deconfliction agreement despite it is allegedly committed to do so. This may eventually lead to the collapse of the agreement.
