Syrian Army, Russian Aerospace Forces Killed 14 ISIS Terrorists In Southern Raqqa – Report

At least 14 terrorists of ISIS were killed while taking part in the terrorist group’s recent attack on the Syrian town of Resafa in the southern Raqqa countryside, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on October 16.

According to the London-based monitoring group, the terrorists were killed during clashes with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and as a result of Russian airstrikes.

The SAA recaptured all the positions it lost during the attack, which took place early on October 15. Russian Airspace Forces warplanes carried out more than 40 airstrikes on the terrorists who took part in the attack.

The attack was launched from the al-Bishri mount that lays along the administrative border between Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.

Prior to the attack, ISIS terrorists received supplies from US-backed fighters based in the southeastern area of al-Tanf, according to some Syrian pro-government sources.

Resafa is located on the highway linking Raqqa with Hama. ISIS terrorists were likely planning to block the strategic highway, which is used to ship fuel from northeastern Syria to government-held areas.

Despite sustaining heavy losses in the last few months, ISIS is still trying to expand its influence in central Syria. The terrorist group’s insurgency in the region will not likely end anytime soon.
