The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), backed up by Russian attack helicopters, destroyed 18 ISIS vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) during the Monday clashes with the terrorist group near the city of Deir Ezzor, according to pro-government sources.
ISIS used 10 VBIEDs in attempts to drive government troops out from the area near the 137 Brigade Base in western Deir Ezzor, but they were countered by the SAA artillery and Russian attack helicopters.
Separtely, 2 VBIEDs were allegedly desroyed during the clashes near Sholah. 6 more ISIS VBIEDs were reportedly destroyed by the SAA and the Republican Guard on other frontlines of in and near Deir Ezzor.
ISIS had deployed large reinforcements in an attempt to repel the SAA advance on Deir Ezzor city. However, so far, the terorist group has not been able to regain the initiative in the battle for the strategic city.

An ISIL last stand in front of Der Ezzor was expected. They have entrenched hard points around the city and knowing their tactics probably an earthen rampart all around it. It’s good enough position to fight a defensive battle, but it also makes them sitting ducks for RuAF and SAA artillery. The other thing they usually do is flanking raids on supply lines and attacks behind SAA lines. That tactics can be effectively countered by a combination of designated “fire brigade” units and close air support. However we look at it Der Ezzor will be turned into killing field for Daesh. In the end of the day it doesn’t really matter if SAA brakes the siege today, tomorrow or in a week. SAA needs to hold tight, beat back the attacks with superior fire power and let Daesh lose it’s steam
Very well said. The Jew world order invader’s supply lines are seriously impaired and they’re losing a lot more men and equipment around the clock than the government coalition. What the ratio is on manpower I’m not sure, maybe 2 or 3 to 1 or greater? With equipment it’s much higher, at least 5 or 10 to 1. Which adds up quick when the government is constantly bringing in additional equipment and the invaders are constantly losing equipment with little or no replacements available.
With the US making noise about seizing the oil fields east of the river. The pace of air raids and artillery strikes to get DE cleaned out is almost certainly taking place at an accelerated rate. Fresh supplies, equipment, weapons and personnel is being delivered to the government held area on a daily basis. And soon a ground link will be secured that’s relatively free of conflict that will allow unimpeded resources to flow into the city to bolster clear and hold operations to expand the government foot print and strengthen offensive operations against the enemy.

Well it’s finally happening, after following this war for almost 3 years the siege on DZ is going to be broken at long last. The pace of the SAA’s gains recently has surprised me (and ISIS no doubt), how ISIS can still have people willing to fight for their lost cause is beyond me.
