On August 26, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) artillery shelled several positions and fortifications of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies in the towns of Khuwayn and al-Tamanah in the southern Idlib countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The SANA reporter in Hama said that the shelling killed several militants and destroyed several engineering vehicles of HTS, which were building fortifications in the two towns.

In the northern Hama countryside, the SAA artillery shelled and destroyed a headquarters of Jaysh al-Izza, a close ally of HTS, west of the town of al-Zakah. Several militants were reportedly killed in the shelling.

The shelling is aimed at preventing HTS and its allies from fortifying their positions along the front line in southern Idlib and northern Hama. At the same time, the SAA continued to deploy more troops around the two regions in the framework of its preparations to launch a military operation against militants there.
