The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) shelled late on October 3 the newly-established Turkish military post in the southern Idlib countryside, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
According to the London-based monitoring group, several rockets launched by the army landed in the perimeter of the post, which is located near the town of Maar Hattat. No one was reportedly killed, or injured.
Turkey established the post following the SAA’s advance in northern Hama last August.
This was the third such attack on the Maar Hattat post. On September 13, a shell fired by the army’s artillery hit a berm surrounding the post. A day later, the post’s perimeter was shelled again.
Earlier, the SAA shelled militants’ positions in southern Idlib, killing or injuring at least ten Turkish-backed gunmen. This suggests that the attack on the Turkish post was a mere accident.
Turkey’s Ministry of National Defence has not commented on the shelling, yet. Ankara usually ignores the attacks that don’t result in any causalities.

Assad’s obviously been emboldened by the meeting he had with Turkish opposition the other day, and judging by what Turkish media has had to say about it, it’s all excellent news for Assad. Turkish opposition parties are saying all the right things now, they blame Erdogan for the initial war in Syria, they accuse him of perpetuating the war right now, and they also accuse him of dealing with the terrorist elements involved in the fighting, and best of all, they also say they’ll expose his dealings to the international community, LOL. Erdogan’s already facing the wrath of the Turkish voters due to his brutal crackdown on the coup supporters, and now he been threaten with exposure as well, I think his time is limited, he may not even make it to the next election, he may even end up in jail before that, LOL. He also has to face accusations of complicity in dealings with Isis, the Russian’s made accusations and provided evidence way back in 2015/16, that’s all on public record still, and something else Erdogan will eventually have to face. And on top of that the US is sending in more weapons and flying patrols over the areas Erdogan’s threatening create a safe zone, so they’re letting him know they’re not going to let him do it, so he isn’t going to get his way on that either, his whole world must be caving in right about now. All the planets are aligning for Assad right now but that doesn’t mean he’s safe, I’m sure Erdogan will react badly to all these current developments, he may do something desperate now to try and change the situation around, but there’s nothing he can do now to stop the inevitable, only cause more death and destruction before he goes. Bye bye Erdogan, you’re the last warmonger left now and you’re about to go the same way all the rest of them did, well none of them have gone to jail yet so he won’t be in the same boat the others are in really, there’s no room left in that lifeboat now, so poor old Erdogan’s just going to be left to the elements with not even a lifebuoy to hang onto, LOL, go to jail you dickhead, and hopefully they’ll lock up all you’re Muslim brotherhood buddies at the same time.

And now he wants to reopen his embassy in Syria just like most of the other Arab league [AL] countries have already done. All Arab league countries [anti Muslim brotherhood] except for Qatar [pro Muslim Brotherhood], have all had enough of Isis and Turkey [also pro Muslim Brotherhood], and since late in 2017 they’ve all been demanding the US and Israel end all ties with the Muslim Brotherhood [Isis] and also end the war in Syria, and since June last year they’ve all been saying Assad can now stay in power, all except for Erdogan that is. The Muslim brotherhood is the tree trunk that sprouts all the militant branches of Sunni Islam, the Taliban, Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, Isis and others, and since Turkey and Qatar are the biggest sponsors of the MB, they’ve also become the AL’s biggest enemies. The MB’s goals are to overthrow all Islamic monarchies like Jordan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, [all except for Qatar that is], then to install democratic systems that are subservient to Sharia law, and that’s the last thing the Saudis want to see happen. they’d lose power. It’s hard to accept that old foe’s have suddenly become allies but that’s what happens in politics, there is no is he’s a good guy or he’s a bad guy, only, does this suit my purpose, and what will I get out of it, and that’s what’s happened between Syria and Saudi Arabia now. But don’t worry, Assad absolutely hates the Saudis, he’ll make them pay a heavy price for any favours they ask him to do, they might have a common enemy in Erdogan and the MB, but as I said before, they need Assad now more than he needs them, so the deals they make will be lopsided in Assad’s favour from now on. The Saudis are spending a fortune in Turkey trying to overthrow Erdogan politically, and they’ve even tried bribing Assad too.

Thanks Xoli, He’s been begging the US, EU and NATO to help him for over a month now, and not one of them have lifted a finger to help him, so I think that’s what’s emboldened the Turkish opposition to do what they have now. It’s quite a risk for them if it backfires so they must be pretty sure they have the upper hand, and I suspect the new UN amendment’s Assad just agreed to just put the last nail into Erdogan’s coffin, I think it’ll be goodbye to Erdogan long before the next election is due, that’s 4 years away but I doubt he’ll even last another 12 months. While I am symphatetic to your sentiments, I am feeling you are too optimistic. You undersestimate his animalistic cunning, the desparation of his following clique. I foresee a sort of coup by Erdogan if the thinks he will lose control.
And he is NOT the last warmonger of the region. The Iranian regime is another one, as is, in fact, KSA. Assad in another one. Trump is, potentially, an external warmonger. Or at the least a destabilising factor.
Erdogan is dead in the water, even the Russian couldn’t save him if they wanted too, the opposition parties will use the Turkish legal system against Erdogan and he won’t be able to do a thing to stop them, and even an invasion of northern Syria couldn’t really help his cause right now. My reference to warmongers is only specific to the war in Syria, and since June last year Bolton and Erdogan have been the last 2 warmongers saying Assad has to go, no one’s saying it now though, LOL. Trump’s not a warmonger, he said Assad could stay in power last year [June], he also got the Israelis to say Assad could remain in power too, and they’re still saying it now, despite the fact they bomb him quite often, and Trump calmed down tensions in North and South Korea too, just ask the South Koreans if they think Trump’s a warmonger, and what about his latest approach to Iran, both he and Pompeo are bending over backwards to get Iran to renegotiate a nuclear treaty and security pact with Israel, promising them the world if they do. Trumps a peace dove pure and simple, he’s not a warmonger, he talks too tough and gives the impression he’s looking for trouble, but at the first real sign of it he always backs down and starts afresh, he has never once kept escalating hostilities, just re-entered negotiations, that’s what a peace dove does, but warhawks never back down, they just keep escalating to a point of no return, something Trumps never done.
