On December 27, the Reverse Side of the Medal Telegram channel released photos of an improvised suicide drone, which was recently downed near the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.
According to the Telegram channel, the drone, which was likely launched by Greater Idlib militants, was downed using electronic warfare means.
Drones with a similar design were used against the Syrian Arab Army and its allies over the past two years. The drone appears to be made with off-the-shelf electronics and is armed with the warhead of a C-5 air-to-ground rocket, which was designed in the Soviet Union.
Larger drones made with the same technology were used in attacks on Russia’s Hmeimim Air Base and Tartus Naval Base on the Syrian coast.
Al-Qaeda’s Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which roles over Greater Idlib, reportedly manufactures and operates these improvised drones.
ISIS, which had more experience and resources than HTS, failed to manufacture suicide drones on a mass scale. This suggests that HTS received technical support from a third party.
Despite their intensive use over the last two years, these improvised drones saw little success in attacks on point targets. Russian and Syrian air-defense and electronic warfare and air defense systems effectively contain the threat from these drones.
How kind are the militants: Helping the Syrian AA to warm up a little bit before the Battle for Idlib.
Soon we see how dead are the militants lmfao
Talk about rudimentary, who was the third party helping them, a bunch of teenage done enthusiasts, at first I though they meant Turkey then I saw the pictures, LOL. And where’s the optical device for targeting, the dark bit at the front doesn’t look like a wide view camera, more like it was was holding the warhead, so are they actually line of sight suicide drones? if they are their range is only 3 or 4km max, and these warheads aren’t very powerful, they don’t have a good track record for damage delivery, quite the opposite in fact according to Wiki. Low speed, low altitude, low yield and low tech, so all you’d need is a few soldiers with Kalashnikovs and these drones wouldn’t stand a chance, don’t worry about turning on high tech jammers or using missile AA defense systems, these are just sitting ducks you could take out with a hunting rifle.
Better believe it wasn’t an Israeli drone … eh?
No wonder …. even a muslim incompetent shot it down …. eh?
The SAA …. what is it good for?
Absolutely nothing … say it again!
