Syrian Army Succeeded In Establishing Safe-Zone In Idlib, Turkey Failed: Russian MoD

Support SouthFront

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) successful operations in Idlib have helped establish a safe-zone under the 2018 Sochi agreement, the commander of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria announced on February 12.

In his daily statement, Maj. Gen. Yuri Borenkov confirmed that the army has completely secured the M5 highway, which links the Syrian capital, Damascus, with the northern city of Aleppo.

The Russian commander stressed that the SAA’s large-scale operation in Greater Idlib against al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies was necessary, saying that Turkey had failed to implement its commitment within the Sochi agreement.

“Government forces operations ended terrorist attacks and put an end to civilian losses as a result of militants’ attacks and shelling,” Maj. Gen. Borenkov said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Russia released a video showing Turkish troops moving within Idlib’s de-escalation zone and held Ankara responsible for the current escalation in the region.

Under Sochi agreement, Turkey had to help to establish a safe-zone in Idlib, reopen all highways and expel terrorist elements from the Syrian region. However, Ankara didn’t implement any of these commitments and even worked against some of them.

Hanny Benny

good work putin my long years predictions go all true very fine work

BlueInGreen

Megadeth is one of my favorite Thrash metal bands! Overkill is all time favorite though.

Just though I’d say that lol.

Lonesome Cowboy Burt

Bro, I collect vinyl rips of various genres of music. Most blow away cd’s (or digital versions online). I have a number of metal classics up on my Google drive. If you’d like a link (they are hq mp3’s, full albums) just let me know. I’ll post my Protonmail to which you may email me and I’ll send a link.

BlueInGreen

Thank you so much Burt!! Much appreciated!!

Lonesome Cowboy Burt

Wish we could pm others on Disqus. Either way, isn’t a big deal. If you are comfortable sending me an email, send one over to steve0stylez@protonmail.com and I’ll share those links with you. They are good until 2/19 (I added extra storage on my Google Drive so to share with others, most people don’t care. So sick of these kind of people. F’n nihilists! I, however, don’t settle for less. I have been collecting high quality music (masterings, pressings, etc) since 2006, but 2008 more seriously, esp the vinyl rips.

Music is important in my life. I don’t have a TT of my own yet (had one when I was younger, nothing special, however.) I have a variety of music up. From hip-hop/rap (mostly vinyl sourced) to Prog Rock, Classic/Hard rock, Metal. Around 85gb total. I might renew the extra space another month for $2. If you don’t see this in time and someone marks it as spam.. you might still be able to see it in your Disqus homepage or email notification. I just got Iron Maiden – Powerslave, Mercyful Fate – Melissa, Black Sabbath – IV & Cross Purposes (if you aren’t familiar with this one, check out ‘Virtual Death’ and Cross of Thorns), Danzig – S/T. With metal vinyl, you usually can crank it up higher w/o it hurting your ears or get that ear fatigue (if mastered, and transfered to digital properly as well).

Lonesome Cowboy Burt

Did you write down my email address? Saw you upvoted and figured you had. Not comfortable leaving it up on a public site.

BlueInGreen

Oh Jesus lol, I was going to write it down but had completely forgot due to some things I had to due that day man my bad. Things have been rather hectic to me as of late, my sincerest apologies Burt.

Here’s my e-mail!! galiant76@yahoo.com

Lonesome Cowboy Burt

Ah, I hear that! Just wish we could have started a new year/decade w/o so much ramped up chaos (particularly this virus has me worried, my mom and I have asthma, both get hit bad from the more aggressive bugs. I used to be hospitalized with pneumonia every 2.5 years or so as a kid, usually after I’d get a bad cold. Asthma is a SOB! Haven’t really had any attacks since I was 13 or so, I’m 40 now.)

I’ve been trying like hell to land a new job. Been unemployed since middle of Dec. Yet people like Tim Pool are on YT talking up the economy, saying its doing better than ever! Well, from what I’m picking up from comments over at ZH, I’m not so sure that is going to hold for very long. Going shopping tomorrow for some canned goods, dried foodstuffs, cat food and other essential day-to-day supplies. Never have had to do this yet (I live near Chicago).

You know what, I rarely drink, but I think I’m going to treat myself tonite! Maybe a 4-pk of Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, Founders’ Breakfast Stout or something on the lighter side, Hacker Schoer? Do you enjoy craft beers? What are some of your favs? I’m sending over an email now, you may edit out your email whenever you read this. You have extra HD space for the tunes? I have like 50 more albums to convert and add up to my Drive. Get to that later tn.

BlueInGreen

Haha, love the enthusiasm Burt, I also suffer from Asthma as well, fucking thing sucks when it kicks in full-tilt. Bitch to breathe when it goes down lol. Been taking pills to suppress it for a little while, I also got an albuterol inhaler just in case. Sorry to hear about you going to hospital for pneumonia treatment when you were a child. Had some stints in the hospital as well for myself although for me it was heart related.

Nah man, I don’t drink or smoke haha. I try to generally stay away from alcohol and cigs. I don’t hate beer, I do drink it very very rarely but if I were to drink I would have a Budweiser once in a while with some friends just for kicks.

Yeah man I’ve been going to ZeroHedge for a little while myself and it seems things might be taking a turn for the worse with the whole coronavirus thing running amok. Heard China is falling apart or something because they can’t keep up with just how bad this thing is man. Real scary ass stuff no joke stay safe outright man, shit can turn real ugly real quick.

Thanks for the music man!!! HOLY SHIT THAT’S A FUCK TON OF SONGS!! haha Keep it real man!!

Thanks again Burt!!

Saint Jimmy (Russian American)

Russia means what it says. If Turkey attacks that zone, Turkish armor will be scrap metal within a few days.

Redadmiral

That seems a bit on the long side, Jimmy. I’de be tempted to say minutes but I’ll err on the side of caution and say HOURS.

Saint Jimmy (Russian American)

If they use the Navy missiles with heavy air attacks and you figure some will be hit by Syrian artillery, possibly so.

Justin

lol, he changed it to “days” hahaha

Tim Williams

SAA and HEZ forces can neutralize the TURKS .. they are not dug in

Justin

i love this hard stance! We now have battle hardened Syrians with tons of experience and HIGH Morale and Russians who wont blink an eye when it comes to destroying Turkish Tank columns!

Denyse Viney-Pez

It’s a beauitful thing forsure…

goingbrokes

And the Turks know it too, and they won’t attack. This is all show. SAA is winning everywhere. If the Turks were to attack truly, this is not the way they would do it.

Saint Jimmy (Russian American)

It’s beginning to look somewhat pre-planned. I think the Turks tested the waters for a few days to determine whether their armor and supplies could move the Syrians. When they couldn’t move them, lost some pieces, and lost a little more ground, there were talks. The Turks moved in more armor to put on a show, knowing it wouldn’t make any real difference but would lead to heavy losses and no change, at best. I also think the show is over for a while.

What puzzles me a bit is that Turkey didn’t try to use any real air power. I think they would have, if possible. However, there was an incident a few days ago that could have convinced Turkey to not use air power. Some Turkish F-16s attempted to enter Syrian air space but met Russian fighters and turned back. I find that interesting.

goingbrokes

Again I think it was for show. Erdogan had to show for his jihadists allies that he is trying so he sent a few F16s knowing perfectly well that they would be intercepted, so then he had an excuse not to use airpower. I believe he is rescuing his own intelligence assets in Idlib and maybe other countries intelligence assets too (for a fee of course). Everyone who has followed the events knows that the SAA is now completely unstoppable, so why waste expensive armour and men in a futile fight. Turkey could only prevail if they started a total war, and even then the result is not certain (although the economic collapse of Turkey would be!). Erdo is a greedy guy but he is also not stupid. I expect fireworks but no result, and a rapid SAA win. In fact it is the rapidity of SAA advance that has sent everyone into panic. I think absolutely no one is contemplating stopping the SAA by force.

Vitex

Some noise from NATO, but whether they attack Syria or not depends on the behind-the-scenes politics

Zionism = EVIL

There is no way on earth that any NATO faggot will die for the detested Turkeys.

https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9e962e180209c91d6270e22de05bff857c8a9ba4171af293af6f83f9e3f1178e.jpg

FlorianGeyer

Empty drums make the most noise and NATO has warehouses full of them :)

Tudor Miron

Turks know very well that Russian fighter pilots remember who’s guilty of Oleg Pavlov’s death. Turks know that when Russian pilots see them they think “Just give me a reason.”

FlorianGeyer

Turkey and all of NATO thought that Damascus would fall in 2016 and that all of NATO’s sins would be ‘brushed into the memory hole.

Things did not turn out too well of course for NATO nations in Syria.

In fairness, Erdo has a huge problem with all of his armed and desperate Jihadis. He does not want them in Turkey and the rest of NATO will be apoplectic if he sends the Al Nusra jihadis to Libya :)

Tudor Miron

So the answer is to send them to… you guessed it :)

Saint Jimmy (Russian American)

I think they ran into Su-57s.

Zionism = EVIL

Russian military dating back to the great Patriotic War has been very methodical, they learnt a lot from the ill-planned trench warfare of WW1 and then the revolution. The Russians take their time and know Syria like the back of their hands by now. As I and anyone with any military knowledge said from get go that the Turkeys are all bluff and are not in a position to wage a full scale war against Syria, let alone the Russian superpower. Once all the terrorist scum have been kicked out of key strategic areas, then it is time for a Turkey shoot. I am hoping that Syria is deploying modern AD systems to cover its advancing troops. The terrain in Idlib is ideal for air defence as hills and natural cover would give SAA a huge advantage in checking any air intrusion by the dumbass Turkeys. Like the Ansarallah in Yemen, the SAA should be using ATGM to take out the Turkey armor on winding single track mountain roads.

What I wana know is what are them Kurds doing in Syria Iraq and in Turkey !!! Will they ever wake up and claim their freedom ?

They ll never find a better chance…this is it, its now or never Kurds !

ButtonPlay

i dont know if trump is ready to let the kurds do their thing in this volatile situation, he doesnt want to play erdogan in the russian hands, besides “protecting” them gives good reason to keep the east syrian oil fields occupied , dont want to disturb that.

©igare☘☘e?Sm⚽️k?ng?Man️?

Thats true, but I am asking The Kurds what are they gona do about it… They got guns they got experience, they hate the Turks as mush as the Turks hate them… The recipe is there… And on top of that the Rusians are now breaking their little ”love affair” with the Turks… As I said, its now or never, never mind Trump, he wont be here next December either after Bernie wins the US elections.

Tim Williams

Bernie wont win … LOL

©igare☘☘e?Sm⚽️k?ng?Man️?

Yes he will lol.

Tim Williams

Syria decreed defacto autonomy to the KURDS over 5 years ago .. you run your area, but stay in the country

©igare☘☘e?Sm⚽️k?ng?Man️?

Yeah , thats not independence though is it. Thats like Scotland being in England’s UK.

Tim Williams

that’s as good as it will get …

©igare☘☘e?Sm⚽️k?ng?Man️?

As long as they start a revolution in Turkey and civil war the f*k out of them thats all I care.

Ronald

Your still lost in the dream.

©igare☘☘e?Sm⚽️k?ng?Man️?

Its not over till its over pal.

ButtonPlay

Is this the russian way of hinting the Turks for a cease fire? Having accomplished the safe-zone / mission, now lets talk? Does Putin give erdogan a small present to take home to his voters like i stepped in and stopped the refugee flow etc while the saa get a bigger present ?

©igare☘☘e?Sm⚽️k?ng?Man️?

Nobody should be doing no talking right now.

They should be concentrating on kicking all the enemies of Syria Out of Syria! Including the Turks the Yanks and their isis-alqaeda affiliates!

Tim Williams

no … TURKS HAVE TO PULL OUT

FlorianGeyer

Exactly.

FlorianGeyer

I would think so, yes. This has been the pattern for years and it has worked thus far.

The next offensive will likely be to the West of Idlib in the mountainous area. The Jihadi gangs send drones to attack the Russians from there. The high ground overlooks the route to Idlib.

I am sure the Jihadis will break any ceasefire as usual and that will create a valid reason to take the next steps of Idlibs liberation.

In my opinion the jihadi’s in their mountain strong points will be attacked with with Russian weapons not yet seen on the Syrian battlefields.Massive bunker busters that would cause mini earthquakes for instance.

Initially, the jihadis will begin infighting again,in my opinion as the spoils of war are far less for the terrorists now and the Turks will want their share as well.

jorge

Go see if outside is raining, zio’s button.

jorge

Checkmate. Capicci, imbeciles?

King Cliff

The Syrian troops must keep pushing forward and clear the M4 highway and clear the area around latakia.

Tim Williams

TOS 1A’S have been pounding that area for 3 days now … rats are buried into the hills

FlorianGeyer

That will happen after the Jihadis break any ceasefire again, I would think.

Drew

No more ceasefire needed or will be.

FlorianGeyer

I think there will be. If only to rest and refit the courageous SAA and allied troops.

Tim Williams

3 battles by the rats today … all ended in spectacular failure with them losing half of their equipment in the process

josh

News said that in last conversation between Putin and Erdo, the yelling of Putin heard from Moscow to Ankara…After that, Erdo said that militants giving the right to Assad for attack…??smelling shitty pants over there

RichardD

The Turks should abandon their Idlib terrorists and move that equipment down to southern Syria to help clear the IDF out from the occupied Golan.

gustavo

Good for Russia. Finally, it looks like that Putin has left to support Erdogang at Idlib. Congratulation to Putin for this right action, and I hope cntinue in this way until Turkey (NATO member) totally leave Syria (including Afrin and north Euphrates river).

jorge

Well, in the end it seems that you understood a little tiny part of the great game. May be time to think on migrate, no?

Vitex

I think Putin’s position is difficult. He has to avoid war with both Turkey and Israel

Denyse Viney-Pez

Not to mention a few others….He’s quite the middle man between some of the most cold hearted leaders yet comes out of it with everyone’s trust..

Drew

It could be an Erdogan-Putin plan to liberate Idlib. Erdogan plays the NATO roll, preventing the need for jUSA participation. After “losing” he will go home, leaving Idlib in Syrian hands.

Joe Doe

Talk is cheap Mr. Russia. SAA have done great job, but let see how much Russia will helped SAA mountain such position when Turkey starts attack SAA in Idlip

Vahlsing

I hate to repeat myself, but words cannot describe the miracles they are achieving.

Syrian Armed Forces, Russia & the other Syria allies are doing a spectacular large scale job.

Feb. 12, 2020 update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-58ZiL9hFI

More continued triumphs; I send prayers to the Syrian Armed Forces, Russia & the other Syria allies. WIN TIGERS WIN !!!

Zionism = EVIL

You have a good grasp of reality. The SAA is really coming out of this anti-terror war as a first rate mobile and highly motivated fighting force, the best regular military in the Arab world.

Tim Williams

IRAN is the best … SYRIA right behind them

Zionism = EVIL

Iran is not Arab country.

itchyvet

So what your saying, is the events started by the evil Zionists in their efforts to create a Greater Israel, have back fired immensley. Instead of destroying Syria and it’s military, it has done the opposite. The same can be said of Iran and even Iraq. Now what would happen if those three nations signed an agreement of supporting each other if threatened from an outside source ???Do I detect ground tremors from shaking boots in Israel ?

Drew

I still see a chance that Turkey is misleading the NATO criminals with her token actions in Idlib in order to prevent NATO activity there. They did the same when they sent jewmericans leave in panic from the Kurdish territories, close to Turkish borders. Perhaps Erdogan had to raise the theatrics to ‘convince’ his NATO ‘allies’. Remember when the SAA and Russia wanted to liberate Idlib a year ago, the Western criminals have threatened with WW3, so the Syrians, Russians backed down? What if Turkey’s smoke and mirror actions will only last till the whole Idlib is liberated from Western terrorists and then they go home “fuming”? It could be a well camouflaged plan with Putin behind the curtain!

FlorianGeyer

This is of course a possibility in this murky conflict where the many Western puppet masters are all attempting to pull the strings of war on the same puppets at the same time.

Denyse Viney-Pez

That’s the way I see it as well,God’s hand is plain for all to see in this battle.

J Roderet

February has been a great month so far. Each day has brought a new victory for the SAA and a new bitter defeat for the Neocons.

Alex Cabrera

i think SAA should secure the border first stopping the influx of turks

Xoli Xoli

As Sochi agreements were fullfill by SAA government forces there is no need to have Erdogan and his terrorists in Syria. Actually there is no de escalation zones anymore. Because SAA Liberate all zones. Erdogan uses Idlib refugees to blackmail and threaten NATO members. In return Erdogan used Idlib collapse zones to kill government forces and cause instability in Syria. Russia should start pumping in Military Police and conduct all patrols with Syrian military which can respond immediately if terrorized by Erdogan terrorists.Syrian government rules must be implemented. No Erdogan spy patrols in Syria.

Xoli Xoli

Erdogan must leave Syria immediately. Because his hidden criminal agenda has been exposed to the whole world. Erdogan created ISIS and is the best friend of terrorists.

russ

Not true… We, US-ZOG, created ISIS…

Lazy Gamer

The refugees, if they prove to be Syrian should be bussed back somewhere in the Central N or NE. Win win for Syria and Turkey.

GuyQ

This is a joyful news. Well done SAA

Rafik Chauhan

secure all off Allepo till the border cut of kar lusinn border from idlib city bcuz Turks are using that border more to supply terrorist. once that border is in SAA and Russian MP in no way Turks can do anything to save their terriost child . that border is not far

Drew

It could be an Erdogan-Putin secret plan to liberate Idlib. Erdogan clumsily plays the NATO roll, preventing the need for jUSA participation. After “losing” he will go home, leaving Idlib in Syrian hands.

Rodney Loder

Even so, the movement of residents is unprecedented Aleppo was not like this something has changed in North Western Syria.

Ronald

Just more propaganda.

Rodney Loder

Not being called out as that not even by South Front, I think the Idlib residents see an overwhelming force, the rebels are not offering much resistance before they were so the residents are seeing them as the underdog victims, western propaganda woul be appealing to Idlib residents at the moment.

Leon

In fact Russia says to Syria : M5 highway is open from Damascus to Aleppo as by Sotchi agreement and NOW STOP !!! Idlib stays for Erdogan as a reward for buying S400, Nuclear power plants, South Stream … This is for Erdogan to be in a good position for negaciations with Syria.

Denyse Viney-Pez

I’ve been praying for this…I pray always for those in the Middle East specially. I’m a Canadian who is against my Govt always bowing down to the US. ..We use to be a people who cared about any people who were treated wrong and stood up against all percussion everywhere.God bless the rightious!
