Syrian Army Supported By Russian Aerospace Forces Chases After ISIS In Central Syria

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies are conducting a new operation against ISIS cells in the country’s central region, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

Pro-government forces are reportedly combing a vast region between western Deir Ezzor-southern Raqqa and eastern Homs-eastern Hama.

According to the London-based monitoring group, the Russian Aerospace Forces is backing the large-scale combing operation. On November 25 alone, Russian warplanes carried out at least 16 airstrikes on ISIS terrorists and their hideouts in southern Raqqa and eastern Hama.

“The Syrian Observatory has documented fatalities on both sides, where 19 regime soldiers and allied militiamen were killed, while 14 ISIS members were killed,” the SOHR said in a report on November 26. “The death toll is expected to rise as some injured are in serious condition, amid reports of further fatalities.”

In the second half of this year, ISIS terrorists stepped up their attacks on government forces in the central region. Most of the group’s attacks targeted the Hama-Aleppo-Raqqa triangle. The western countryside of Deir Ezzor, as well as the eastern Homs countryside, were also targeted.

The terrorists are launching their attacks from their stronghold in the central region, the Homs desert. They are reportedly receiving supplies from U.S.-backed fighters based in the nearby al-Tanaf garrison.

The SAA and its allies conducted several similar operations over the last few months. All of the operations saw very limited success. ISIS terrorists have become accustomed to Syrian military tactics. This poses a serious challenge for government forces.

If accuracy is to put things in perspective the rate of teorrist attacks keep dimishing from 2015 to the present, why? Because Russian strikes are the most cost effective in the world, drr

That on is sense, if the enemy has not taken cover. ISIS are experts in hiding.

They need boots on the ground to engage with those rats and liquidate them,it must feel great to get up close and give them a taste of cold steel.
