On Sunday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) recaptured the command section and the section 446 of the Armored Vehicle Base in the Eastern Ghouta region near the city of Damascus, according to pro-government sources.
During the clashes around the Armored Vehicle Base, the SAA was able to corner a unit of Ahrar al-Sham inside a booby-trapped building, and detonated it killing the enitre unit, according to pro-government sources.
The Ahrar al-Sham Movement didn’t release any news regarding its attack on the Armored Vehicle Base in the last 24 hours. Syrian warplanes conducted very few airstrikes around the base on Sunday. Due to this it’s safe to assume that the reports about the SAA advance inside the base are accurate.
Pro-government activists claimed that the SAA is planning to develop its counter attack and to advance around the base. However, the SAA will likely avoid opening a new front, as it is already conducting two major military operations in the provinces of Hama and Deir Ezzor.
