Syrian government forces have taken control of 9 garrisons along the border with Jordan, according to pro-goverment sources.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies reportedly liberated the garrisons of 196, 197, 198, 199, 200, 201, 202, 203 and 204.
Now, government troops are deployed in about 50km southwest of the US garrison at At-Tanf.
SAA should close the packet and shrink the front line, before advance along the Jordanian borders. Looks like SAA has very difficulte learn anything and learn from previous mistakes
In this case encirclement of the pocket is arguably a better option as it shuts out the Jordanian border. A neighboring state that hosts mixed NATO SOF forces, an anti-Syrian strategic control room and militant training camps and arms supply dumps. Cutting off the border likewise cuts off any further delivery of military supplies to militants inside the pocket – and an encircled pocket without resupply is just a clock running down.
That’s just a theory. What about Eastern Ghouta pocket and south Damascus/northern Homs pockets? 5 years and clock still running down… In reallity terrorist still smuggle arms and ammunition throughout the whole Syria, and security forces sometimes manage to stop them, but still more gets through to the besiged pockets.
Smuggling becomes more difficult over long distances. Earlier this year FSA boys could probably drive a truck on the back roads virtually to Damascus, with only short end part of the route under SAA control. Now the border is closing, and more areas are under SAA control. Smuggling weapons is becoming very hazardous exercise.
Well, that wasn’t 20 people. Those who entered had accomplices inside ( it’s called saboteurs) and there are reports there were hundreds of them. Of course 20 terrorists can’t do those by themselves – it’s just common sense.
There were apparently 300 of them and they all came from Al Tanf region using US/Israel intelligence gathered on the SAA checkpoints and positions.
Yep, that was already confirmed by the Russian MoD. US keep playing it’s dirty game.
Extremely dirty game , Al masdar and others who are pro government are being hit by a Psyop out of Saudi Arabia, this is the Israelis that went down there to operate in Riyadh.
One thing will be clear – it may take time but eventually, Syria will overcome all these challenges and will rebuild itself.
If take look at map – part of the long-term outstanding problems with East Ghouta and East Damascus, apart from the intensive urban combat against entrenched concrete structures, is exactly because of the open Jordanian border. The militants may have been isolated in those particular district-pockets but they tunneled into adjacent and surrounding areas. Thus trucks loaded with military supplies that originate in Jordan have have long been able to transit those supplies to relatively close surrounding outer areas and transfer weaponry through tunnels into the pockets.
What pocket are you talking about the tiny one between their lines , waste of time until they secure a better position as the one marked green on some has been cleared when they took al Zulaf dam.
whatever strategies the russian led coalition take … God speed and God bless
It wasn’t that long ago that the desperate US military mafia was shooting Syrian soldiers dead near Al-Tanf. Now the SAA has taken control. How odd that the Syrians would have an interest in Syria, of all places. The US did this at the behest of the Revolutionary Commandos, a rebranding of the discredited head chopping New Syrian Army. Al Tanf under SAA control?
This is breaking news.
Howcome the map does not show this?
Thanks for asking. I had read this but maybe I am too anxious for the handover to happen: https://www.veteranstoday.com/2017/08/02/arab-daily-reveals-us-russia-agreement-on-al-tanf-base-in-syria/
Good news, now just make a terrorists pocket and destroy them.
Getting Tanf by SAA-Russia, it will stop Jordan to continue helping terrorists in Syria.
ISIS were closed to Al-tanf for several months but American terrorist coalition never strike them but instead they strike SAA and PMU forces. So then what the fu*ck American are doing their to train more terrorists in Al-Tanf.
Making sure Iran can’t use that excellent highway through the desert to ship supplies to Damascus?
Iran is a friendly and cooperative with all regional countries except Israeli refugee terrorist state and is a leader of the whole Middle East and ship humanitarian aid + anti terrorists commando forces + weapons where they needed to establish peace and prosperity. Iran is not like Israeli refugees or American and NATO terrorist coalition to grab lands from other nations. This is Iran that failed all American + NATO + Israeli terrorists all plans.
That stretch of highway hasn’t seen activity in years , this is about the most activity it has seen. This has been closed off since the beginning why would you call it excellent , because no business nor trade has been conducted in years. Start taking the time to research this road and it’s activity.
