The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) targeted on October 3 militants’ positions in the town of Kafr Nabl in the southern Idlib countryside.
According to opposition activists, the strikes were carried out with heavy rockets. The army likely used BM-27 Uragan or BM-30 Smerch heavy rocket launchers in the attack.
No civilians were reportedly killed or injured as result of the SAA’s rocket strikes on Kafr Nabl.
Kafr Nabl is located on several roads linking southern Idlib with the al-Ghab Plains in northwestern Hama. It’s under the control of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). The terrorist group captured the town from Turkish-backed militants earlier this year.
The rocket strikes on Kafr Nabl were likely a response to the militants’ repeated violations of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib. These provocations could eventually force the SAA to resume its ground operations in the region.
That is a low cost and less risky solution to the headchopper cockroach plague in Idlib. Hopefully, some thermobaric weapons will be used soon.
