Syrian Army Tightens Grip On ISIS-held Al-Qaryatayn Town In Homs Province

On October 18, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) captured the railway station north of the ISIS-held town of al-Qaryatayn in the southern Homs countryside, according to pro-government sources.

Thus, the SAA is now in only 1km from the northern entrance to the town.

Back on October 17, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed that ISIS fighters killed 20 SAA soldiers during clashes in Rmaila Sharqiyah village and Jubail Mount around al-Qaryatayn.

Pro-government sources claimed that the SAA will storm al-Qaryatayn in the upcoming days. While Syrian opposition sources reported that the town is now under a strict siege by the SAA.

However, the SAA allowed some food supplies to enter the town for the civilians on October 18, according to opposition sources.

The battle of al-Qaryatayn town will likely be harder than expected because there are at least 10,000 civilians trapped inside the town, according to opposition sources. Even if this number is overestimated, it remains a notable problem for government forces.

Moreover, local sources confirmed lately that ISIS fighters inside the city are well armed and experienced despite the previous reports that only poorly armed cells were operating in the city.

Al Qaryatayn is a town with a Christian majority btw. That is why this is so delicate. And a very serious problem that it was captured by terrorist monsters… ISIS has no respect for human life anyway, let alone for lives of Christians. (but they bow down to Israelis)

Langaniso Mhlobo

Clear indication that their Israel’s created and arming them.

dutchnational

By air?????????

Magic carpet ??????

Enkidu

Most likely underground tunnels. There were several found elsewhere in Syria, some with indication of CIA presence, wouldn’t surprise me if they find tunnels in al Qaryatayn.

dutchnational

You mean the tunnels from Al Tanf to Qaryatayn, all 200 kms through mountains and all?

Dim

Through desert

Magic At-Tanf

Bru

worst of all, these ISIS terrorists, who always wanted to take this Christian town, were trained and armed at the Al Tanf base by the US- Israel- NATO advisors who illegally occupy it and provided them with intelligence on the locations of the Syrian checkpoints to go unnoticed far behind Syrian lines.

dutchnational

I do not know how large the city is presently, it was something like 15k, but it had a large christian minority, not a majority and many christians fled in 2015 and 2016, after having been targeted by IS the first time IS was there.

I agree with IS not having any respect for anybodies lives, but I haven’t really noticed SAA having much either.

Garga

I can propose an easy way for you to find out or notice: Look into the cities under each one’s control. Whichever has corpses hanging from the walls, that’s the one. Another way is to look if the population, regular people, try to flee the town, after the city became under control of each one.

dutchnational

You mean that’s why over a hundred thousand people fled from DeZ and Mayadin to the SDF even though they had to cross the river and desert to get to them?

How many out of those cities fled towards SAA?

Garga

People try to leave a battlefield but so far the people of various cities and towns returned to their city after SAA liberated them. Example? Aleppo, Palmyra and DeZ after the liberation.

Why do you twist the truth so much?

You can call me Al

Because he is a Kurd and a Knob.

Garga

Being a Kurd does not automatically turn you into that. We have millions of Iranian Kurds who are the exact opposite of all he is. More like he’s under contract obligation to sputter his nonsense.

You can call me Al

No I agree and that is why I said “and a Knob”.

Garga

Thank you for clearing that. These useful idiots use anything to put dirt on [metaphorical] you, including labeling you as an anti-whatever if they can pull it out of what you’re writing. Strawman argument is one their main tools, don’t make it easy for them.

Serious Dude

ISIS is a useful tool for SAA. There were few clashes between SAA and ISIS before 2016. ISIS did the perfect job of destroying all democratic opposition, well except SDF.

Garga

Yes, that’s why SAA airlifts and moves ISIS commanders all the time.

Serious Dude

Yes, that’s why Al-Qaeda supported Hezbollah in the 2006 Lebanon war.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

These were no lightly armed group like what is being portrayed as by some. They came with a weapons convoy disguised as humanitarian aid from Jordan. The majority of them had come from Al Tanf as described by the Russians.

This is why the two FSA factions Abdo and Quarythad refused to harm citizens by what they had said earlier in previous videos and messages.

Lemon1987

Hopefuly SAA after liberation of Al Qaryatayn will not find mass-graves of those poor christian inhabitants.

Qaratayn situation sounds so like the early days of the attack on Syria. Heavily armed insurgents take over a town and start killing local soldiers and militias. Only SAA has learned now how to fight insurgency like that. Hard to know what these daesh morons are trying to achieve by doing this. They are going to die, and if that’s what they want so be it. I wonder what lies they are told to make them throw their lives away? And I don’t mean the virgin goats and all that, what are they supposed to achieve whilst still alive?

Daniel Castro

Lies?! They receive money, they are nothing more than psycopathic mercenaries that use a religious ideology as escapegoat for stealing, killing, raping and enslaving.

If you look into the profile of these hardcore jihadists you will see they are people who actually never had any meaning in life, that is why they are eager to gamble their lives so easily, Alah for them is just a word which means their own selfish and perverted desires.

They in fact belong to the same stock of people who are part of criminal gangs here in Brazil, eager to gamble their lives for some years of luxury, raping kids, stealing, terrorising the population… THE EXACT SAME SHIT! Only difference is our criminals at least do not use God as an excuse for their own actions.

goingbrokes

Can’t argue with anything you say. It is sad and horrible that western governments use these crazy sadists to pursue their political goals. Real democratic countries will never use such forces, so it must mean we don’t have democracy any longer in the west!

Daniel Castro

Sadly democracy is, and always was, a sham.
