On July 3, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Turkish Armed Forces exchanged artillery fire in the southern Idlib countryside.
Early in the morning, the army fired more than 35 rockets at the militant-held towns of Fatterah and Sufuhon. The Turkish Armed Forces and their proxies immediately responded by shelling the government-held town of Kafr Nabl.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed that the Turkish shelling had inflicted losses on the SAA. However, pro-government sources didn’t report any casualties.

In the last few weeks, militants have stepped up their operations against the SAA in Greater Idlib . The militants targeted army personnel in the region with rockets, anti-tank guided missiles and sniper rifles.
These operations were a blatant violation of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, that was brokered by Russia and Turkey on March 5.
By attacking the SAA in Greater Idlib, Turkey is encouraging the hostile behavior of the militants instead of reinforcing the ceasefire. This could soon lead to a dangerous escalation in the region.
Yet another visit to Moscow for Erdogan in the offing.
NATO supporting ISIS against a sovereign nation will end badly, for the citizens of Europe.
