On August 5, Syria’s General Command of the Army and Armed Forces announced that militant groups in the Idlib de-escalation refused to abide the newly-established ceasefire regime and carried out attacks against civilians in nearby areas.
“In a statement on Monday, the General Command said that despite the Syrian Arab Army’s agreement to the ceasefire in the de-escalation zone in Idleb on August 1st, terrorist groups supported by Turkey refused to abide by the ceasefire and carried out several attacks against civilians in nearby areas.
The statement said that the Turkish regime’s persistence in allowing their terrorist pawns in Idlib to carry out their attacks proves that Ankara is maintaining its destructive approach and is ignoring its commitments as per the Sochi agreement on Idlib, which has led to terrorists reinforcing their positions and caused the threat of terrorism to spread across Syria,” Syria’s state-run news agency SANA reported.
The statement added that the Syrian military will resume its combat operations against terrorist groups regardless of their names retaliating to their attacks.

Earlier on August 5, militant groups shelled Russia’s Hmeimim Airbase in Lattakia countryside with rockets.
According to a military source quoted by SANA, at 3:30 PM, militants targeted Hmeimim Airbase with a number of rocket shells that fell in its surroundings, causing considerable losses in lives and material damage. At the same time, Russian forces suffered no casualties or equipment losses.
Meanwhile, reports appeared that the Syrian Air Force delivered several airstrikes on positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies in northern Hama and southern Idlib, in particular near the militnat-held town of Khan Sheikhun.
