Syrian Authorities Exchange Prisoners With Al-Qaeda’s Operations Room In Eastern Idlib (Videos)

On May 22, Syrian authorities and al-Qaeda’s wa-Harid al-Mu’minin operations room exchanged prisoners in the eastern Idlib countryside.

The prisoner exchange took place in the town of Talhiyeh. Dozens of terrorists were deployed inside and around the town during the process.

The terrorists released three Syrian soldiers who were captured in previous battles in northern Lattakia. In exchange, Syrian authorities released two women who were in jail for unknown reasons. Three children of the women were also handed over.

Three days ago, Syrian authorities freed a service member, a female informant and got the bodies of two killed soldiers in a similar deal with Turkish-backed Faylaq al-Sham. Prior to that, a Syrian officer and soldier were freed and a body was returned under a deal with al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

More prisoners exchange deals will likely happen soon. Both sides apparently see the ceasefire in Greater Idlib as an opportunity to free their captives.
