Syrian Authorities had uncovered loads of weapons and ammunition in the northern countryside of Homs, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported on June 3.
According to the state-run agency, the weapons and ammunition were uncovered during the recent search and combing operations in the region, which joined the reconciliation process more than three years ago.
The weapons and ammunition included:
- 248 assault rifles;
- 1 sniper rifle
- 3 machine guns;
- 30 12,7 mm ammunition boxes;
- 30 14,5 mm ammunition boxes;
- 29 23 mm ammunition boxes;
- 210 82 mm mortar rounds along with 86 fuze and 76 propelling charges;
- 68 RPG-7 rounds.
The Syrian military, intelligence and security forces have been making immense effort to secure recently-liberated parts of the country. In April, loads of weapons and ammunition were found in eastern Homs.
The weapons and ammunition found in Homs were likely hidden Free Syrian Army factions for use in future attacks, or to smuggle them later to militant-held areas.
Zion + Wahhabi = 🦾💩
Interesting find but these have been discovered all over Syria. Retreating forces leave them behind and do not destroy them in order to evade detection. SAA left tons behind too.
