The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have repelled a major ISIS attack on the town of Al-Susafeh located east of the Tabqah city. The SDF reportedly killed over 16 ISIS fighters during the clashes.

Initially, ISIS was able to break SDF defenses in the town taking control over many points for several hours. However, then, the SDF, supported by the US-led coalition’s warplanes, pushed back and recaptured all lost points.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq released photos of the attack showing ISIS fighters inside Al-Susafeh. The group also captured the technical from the SDF.

The recent ISIS attack on the SDF in Al-Susafeh could be considered as the biggest since the US-backed force encircled Tabqa. The terrorist organization was able to break the SDF siege on this strategic city for few hours until the SDF recaptured the lost points.

Over 7 ISIS suicide attackers targeted SDF positions in Inad and Al-Baghdah south of Al Shadadee allegedly killing 41 Kuridsh fighters, according to Amaq. ISIS also attacked SDF positions in Tal Al-Saman and Al Qadisiah in the Raqqah countryside. The group claimed that its fighters had destroyed a BMP-1.

The problem with this kind of reporting is ever how much is propaganda and how much is correct. Lets us keep it on that there were counterattacks by IS that after a little success in the beginning were all contained and pushed back. Losses mostly unknown.

This is a well made video by ISUS standards! Appears that SDF has cut off Al Tabqa, but they are putting up a fight. Hard to do when you are getting hit by coalition airstrikes and arty. Let’s hope that Daesh pulls back most of their forces to Raqqa (giving SAA a break).

Behold a Pale Horse

All i ever see is people firing weapons into the air, and reports of 4 people dead, but then whole towns change hands.

I think this ‘war’ is a movie made for us.

Real Anti-Racist Action

Yes it is, but the actors who play the rolls do sometimes really die in the made to watch movie. Though they are suppose to run away right away like in WWF to avoid any real harm, that falls outside of their acting career’s.

Jens Holm

The fighting range is 2300 meters, thats why the barrel are a little up. Its like known from artillery giving extra range. You should look up, what modern warfare in that terrain also is.

Thats what it is even most of it also is very old.

If you then say it rather inaccurate, You are right. You can add TOW range, other heavy RPG and normal machineguns, if the enemy comes closer. Thats often 800 meters. Especially ISIS but also SDF use snipers very much. They are high range too.

If they come into assault riffels invented by germans in the end of WW2 but the first good one just after WW2, the overwhelming Kalashnikov has a range up to 350 meter not so accurate, but spitting a lot of bullets.

So thats why You dont see so many John Wayne gunslingers in this terrain or soldiers with bajonets shoulder by shoulder. But that comes when the enemy advance rapidly without being shut and in urban warfare.

Thats the pup version.

NeoLeo

Most of this crap is staged- that dude standing in open, firing into nowhere with his AK (*full auto), with cameras right behind him.

Bill Wilson

They’re practicing “Spray and Pray” warfare. That’s where you fire long bursts at distant targets and pray that at least one bullet hits the target.

A little bit off Topic, It’s looking Gloomy already for SAA since these barbaric US strikes. Lets hope that they wouldn’t press any further with more strikes or Ultimatum. If that will happen, Russia wouldn’t be able to save Assad. Period.

Gary Sellars

Gloomy? How? Shay’rat was back up and operating within hours, and SAA ground forces are untouched.

While a real annoyance, Trumps missile sttrikes are mostly a gesture, and will backfire now that Russia wil lift their support.

Solomon Krupacek

hah!, only 15 planes lost (syrians told!) and lot of material and other equipment. do no bagatellize this attack!

DJ Double D

Gary Sellars, the problem with this attack is that there is no guarantee that it won’t be repeated. Why? Because the pretext under which this attack was launched Can occur again at any time. The question is What can Russia do to stop it from happening again?

Attrition47

The offensive operations by the US head-chopping, heart-eating rapers are headline-grabbing but don’t seem to have achieved much else. The Syrian-Russian long war strategy is squeezing them like Winfield Scott’s Anaconda Plan.
