On Sunday, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) started storming on the ISIS-held town of al-Suwar in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside, according to Kurdish sources. The SDF didn’t seized al-Suwar, however, SDF fighters captured 4 ISIS fighters during the clashes around the town.
From its side, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq announced that ISIS fighters repelled an attack of the SDF on al-Kubar village in the northwestern Deir Ezzor countryside. ISIS fighters targeted SDF fighters with a VBIED, and killed and injured several SDF fighters, according to Amaq.
Meanwhile, the SDF announced that its fighters were advancing towards al-Imam al-Nawawī mosque in the center of Raqqa city. Clashes were also ongoing between the SDF and ISIS in al-Andalus district in the northern part of the city. Amaq claimed that ISIS fighters killed 7 SDF fighters, injured 3 others and destroyed a Humvee vehicle of the SDF.
Amaq also released a video and photos of the ongoing clashes in al-Firdous district in the center of Raqqa city that the SDF had claimed previously to capture.
Despite mutltiple reports in pro-Kurdish sources that the ISIS defense has fully collapsed in Raqqa, it’s unlikely that SDF will be able to capture the city before the end of September.
This is Hollywood. SDF is not fighting ISIS because SDF are ISIS. These are just photo shoots. No souldier would expose himself like that when engaging in a fire fight. The most pressing issue people are debating at the moment is about Russia’s response to the murder of a top Russian general by the US invasion forces on the Eastern banks of the Euphrates river and what Russia will do to help Syria recover its precious oil and gas installations and its statehood. When I see that Russia has not even sent a bombing raid to destroy the source of fire which killed its general it means that Russia is incabable of living up to its threats of retaliation when its troops are attacked. This sends a clear message to the US invaders and their Kurdish slaves that it can up the ante against Russia not only on this front, but also in Ukraine and elsewhere. Russia is proving itself to be a charlatan, saying many empty things which have no consequence. If Russia does not have the guts to prevent the illegal US invasion terror forces from stealing Syrian sovereign land and natural resources on the Eastern banks of the Euphrates river, it means that Russia and Syria have been defeated and that Syria as a sovereign state has ceased to exist.
I expect that this new US/Israel puppet can still be dealt through a Turkish-/Iraq/Iranian-Syrian coalition after other Isis/AQ/mercenary pockets and fronts have been reliably contained. There is no need to currently overextend for land gains as it can be better focused on later as more manpower, equipment and air forces can be released and focused on this single front for that purpose.
On that note , a larger secure zone must be extended on the east side of the river to protect the airport from “ISIS” .

Yes, the kurds and other northern Syrians were so enthusiastic about Assads generosity and goodwill towards them, that almost all kurds support PYD/YPG/YPJ etc and those that do not, do support direct independence from Syria as of NOW (ENKS/KDP-s/KNC).
The arabs there were so desparate many even supported IS. Now they are flocking to the banners of the SDF in ever greater numbers. SDF even has some problems arming and training them all. In the kurdish cities almost all adults, incl women, except for most of the elderly have received weapons training for neighbourhood defense to defend against the IS, other Islamists, Turks or SAA.

SDF has taken the grain silo’s north east of Al Suhwar hours ago and fighting continues. Silo’s are a prime defensive position and give fire control over much of the (small) city.
The city is the center of the region and important as it gives control over the large agricultural region and easy access by two good roads towards the south and Omar oil fields are open from the north. It also cuts off Markadeh from the south.
Im interested to know what would happen tomorrow if isis was demolished completely … what would assad and putins approach to jarablus, al bab, manbijj, raqqa and dez oil fields areas being held hostage? Whats next post isis?
