On May 9, warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) carried out a series of airstrikes on the remaining positions of ISIS in the Yarmouk refugee camp and the al-Hajar al-Aswad district, south of the city of Damascus, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

These airstrikes are likely a response to ISIS shelling on Damascus. A source in the Syrian Police told SANA that 4 civilians had been killed and 24 others had been injured as a result of the ISIS shelling.

Meanwhile, Syrian pro-government sources reported that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Palestinian Liberation Army (PLA) continued their operations in the Yarmouk camp and the northern part of al-Hajar al-Aswad district capturing several buildings.

From its side, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed that ISIS fighters had killed 23 SAA soldiers and had damaged a tank of the SAA during the clashes in southern Damascus.

According to local observers, the remaining defense of ISIS in southern Damascus will collapse soon, if the SAA launches a new ground attack from its new positions north and east of the Yarmouk camp.
