There were two areas of the missile interceptions:
- Near Shayrat military airfield in the Homs countryside – 6 missiles were intercepted (according to some sources 9 missiles)
- Near Dumair military airfield in the Damascus countryside – 3 missiles were intercepted.
According to reports, the SADF also used its S-200 air defense system to launch a surface-to-air missile at aircraft that had attacked Syria.
The Israeli military has not officially commented on the incident.
The US has denied any new attacks on Syria by its forces.
“There is no US military activity in that area at this time,” Eric Pahond, a Pentagon spokesman said when asked about the strike in Homs, according to Sputnik. “We do not have additional details to provide.”

The article doesn’t get into the level of upgrade that the older legacy systems involved in the engagement with the strike were at. It was probably a mix of various upgrades or lack there of. If all of the legacy systems involved were at the highest level of upgrade. Their performance would have probably been higher. But any missiles taken down by them, are better than those missiles hitting their targets.

This isn’t like the time when that F-16I and that Iranian drone was shot down, attacks don’t occur just because. The Israelis have new stealth fighters and the strategic depth is shallow enough as to be penetrated by F-16s. So this attack would be extremely convenient for the SADF for causing no casualties and providing propaganda value.
