Support SouthFront

Syrian forces have seized a large number of battle tanks and weapons in eastern Qalamoun, according to the country’s news agency SANA. The SANA released 3 photos showing the captured weapons. Photos show at least 8 battle tanks as well machine guns and ammunition.

Militants in eastern Qalamoun surrendered to the Syrian government in April 2018 and the area was liberated by the Syrian Army. Since then, government forces have been contributing efforts to secure the area.

WHERE DID MILITANTS GET THOSE TANKS FROM ? COULD BE USEFUL FOR SYRIA AA

Dr. Pro Liv

Many of them were captured from SAA, taken from invaded military bases…

as

As well the Iraqi.

Dr. Pro Liv

that’s why I’ve said “many” … some could have come over different borders…

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Many came from the former east block countries recognize pieces from there and knew Purple Shovel was making bulk purchases in them.

Barba_Papa

Dr. Pro Liv is correct. These are all former SAA inventory tanks. As a conscript army most of its inventory was in storage, in case of full mobilization. Most of the army was not fully mobilized, as I reckon the government feared most of the troops would not be politically reliable enough. So rather then run the risk of letting huge swaths of the army desert with their equipment they kept large parts of it in storage. Where it was captured later as the rebellion grew into full scale open warfare. So yeah, most of the gear you see in the hands of the Jihadis is basically SAA gear.

Don't read butthurt replies

Hopefully after the war with the proxy terrorist, they fix that problem and avoid repeating it again.

Promitheas Apollonious

rebellion? I am sure you wanted to say invasion.

EL ZORRO

That is the talking point created by the UNITED STATES/ISRAEL/SAUDI ARABIA/NATO, to deviate attention of their supply of weapons to THEIR INTERNATIONAL MERCENARY TERRORIST; from where the MERCENARY TERRORIST get their NEW TOYOTA TRUCKS? from the Syrian army too?.

Barba_Papa

I never said they got everything from SAA stocks. That’s you trying to make me look bad by putting words in my mouth. We weren’t talking Toyotas but tanks. As in those T-55’s and T-62. Which the Syrian army had in abundance before the war.

Brother Ma

Yes true and not to take away from what you have said. Yet,where did they get tank drivers ,munitions experts in tanks etc? Were they mostly politically unreliable Syrian soldiers? Or iraqi former soldiers turned isis with usa coin and flown in with other mercenaries. Iraq had similar tanks.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Many were Iraqi Baathist Party soldiers according to US insiders in the US military.

Brother Ma

Yes Terra. And there lies the shame and pity. Baathists hate islamic fundamentalists and head choppers and killed them everywhere . baathists are allied to assadists. So that is the irony and pity. Zionatoyankistans antics marginalized the Baathists and radicalized them.so now they are on jihadists team out of spite for us -shia iraqis or simply for a crust of bread.

Renegades just like the wild west. Hateful of their employers but still working for them against their own people. Curse Uncle Sam! The fuck!

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Not Iraqi Baathists they and ISIS are brothers together not as you suggest as these are the same miserable pricks who took pleasure in gassing and torturing Shias and Yezidi and other minorities.

Brother Ma

Terra, the Baathists were secular before the downfall of Saddam and the US invasion. They only became radicalised after the us invasion and wrecking of Iraq ,a once beacon in the Arab world. The Baathists in both Iraq and Syria put down rebellions and hated and exterminated Fundamentalist Islamic fucks ,whether shia or sunni.

Dr. Pro Liv

No need for “insiders”. By now that is well known fact that “Baathist Party soldiers-officers” have made core of ISIS.Which just proves the fact from day 1 everything was planned by U.S& Israel and DELIBERATE ! US have sent huge number of those officers, soldiers on the streets jobless! Only to pick them up very quickly after that by CIA, MI6, Mossad agents and give them some money to feed their families and cue them up for creation of ISIS ! They’ve made them deliberately jobless to pick them up easier to create anti-Shia Jihad Arab coalition and road for creation of Western controlled Sunnie “Caliphate” by destruction of Iraq and Syria. Al that was known and financed by Saudi Arabia and her Stooges.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They chose those Sunnis whom followed Muslim Brotherhood , Wahhabi and Salafists teachings easiest to manipulate and why such extremist views are held. Why they had to recruit them outside the country to invade Syria and Iraq not enough support within. NATO/GCC/Israel have always been a problem to global security for decades.

Dr. Pro Liv

“they had to recruit them outside the country to invade Syria and Iraq not enough support within”

You got important point there !… Even though obvious point I haven’t seen many people pointing out that important detail often enough… It must be also because the West prefers that part of the story to be HIDDEN….not to trigger embarrassing questions for the West.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The West used Jordan as a staging ground in the beginning and trained 50,000 to join in the attack in 2012 and another 50,000 in 2014,2016 again the same number as the smuggled them thru the At Tanf region for years.

EL ZORRO

International arms monitor, Conflict Armament Research (CAR), examined 40,000 recovered weapons left behind by retreating ISIS troops since 2014. In a report described as “the most comprehensive to date about how the Islamic State obtained and fielded its weapons,” they note that one batch of UNITED STATES military weapons “covertly” supplied to extremist(INTERNATIONAL MERCENARY TERRORISTS) Syrian rebels were being used by ISIS only two months after delivery… Remember when the US let all their weapons including tanks in Mosul Iraq, because it was to “expensive” to take it back to the US, and ISIS took all of them together with brand new TOYOTA, DOES YOU REMEMBER THE PICTURES OF THE CARAVANS OF TRUCKS?.

trid2bnrml

The US is in the process of taking down the CIA terrorists in Syria. Trump has cut funding for all of them, including the white helmets. The EU is still funding them though. They’re just about done.

Bill Wilson

What was odd is that the SAA soldiers holding those bases were never given orders to destroy or disable the munitions and equipment prior to retreating from those or before being overran. Motorized vehicles are easily disabled by draining the motor oil and coolant then let the engines idle until they seize up. Cannons are disabled by placing a thermite grenade in the breech. Munition bunkers are blown up using timed charges. Some SAA officers and soldiers probably did since it was the prudent thing to do.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Don’t over think this as Syria like many armies were reducing their size but when you leave more administrators than soldiers you become less functioning army in the short term. Most of this armor was purchased by Purple Shovel from former East block countries.

EL ZORRO

FROM THE UNITED STATES/ISRAEL/SAUDI ARABIA/NATO, REMEMBER WHEN ISRAEL/UNITED STATES OCCUPY A TERRITORY THEY CONFISCATE ALL THE WEAPONS FOR FUTURE USE IN DIFFERENT OPERATIONS.

Brother Ma

Yep ,like they give all terrorists Russian weapons to create falseflags as well. Oh look mr usbuttlicker was shot with an ak 47 . It must be the Russians!

Richard M

Get the restoration crews to work getting the weapons ready for Idlib and Daraa!

Douglas Houck

A lot of tanks but very little ammo. Overall of little mititary value.

Bill Wilson

Especially if one can’t obtain sufficient diesel fuel to operate those in combat.

Concrete Mike

Your an idiot…if Isis had shell factories why would Syria not have any? Also some are probably stolen from SAA.

Trust me when your in jam you make it work. Syria is still alive today, it’s because they are tough creative and have good friend, you have none of these qualities

Douglas Houck

My, my, but we are cranky today. I suggest you reread my post vis a vis the picture of weapons/ammo lying on the ground and think about it for a minute or two, which is two minutes more than you apparently did before posting your articulate and well thought out reply. You may want to talk with your doctor about changing your meds.

Concrete Mike

Medication is a crutch for the weak.

Your assumption that tanks with no immediate ammo at hand are( syntax???) useless is kinda weak. I mean these tanks are not doing anything before a mecanic looks at them.

And I mean really, ammo can be trucked in no problem.

You sound like a kid with an arts degree…can write really well but doesnt have a fucking clue how the working world operates.

I suggest you go out in the world and get a real job, get some real experiences instead of sitting in front of a computer.

Douglas Houck

I think I realize where you misunderstood my post. The jihadists brought in a number of tanks but there were no shells that went with them, meaning they had little military value to the jihadists.

Oh, and I’m sorry about your lack of meds. I overlooked your name, “Concrete Mike”.

Concrete Mike

Ahhh a misunderstanding. My bad dude…im kinda a hot head sometimes, I apoligize.

Thanks for being courteous in your reply…I try to be nice most of the time, feels bad man.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They had no crews or mechanics for all of them simple as that as the west never thought about that in their plan as it’s all ballsed up.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

No they lacked the technical expertise and crew to maintain them it’s like that all over with the FSA, they had no real defections but executed thousands upon thousands of Syrian soldiers and people.

Rob

Very good news. Well done SAA.

Smith Ricky

Winning, winning and more winning ?

You can call me Al

Does anyone know what types of tanks they are ?.

Richard M

They look like T-62. If the Orcs haven’t vandalized them they should be ready for service with a bit of maintenance!

You can call me Al

Thanks.

testera

Third image: T-62, T-55 Second image: T-55 (same one), T-62 First image: same tanks in center, some more similar ones to the left and right

You can call me Al

Thanks.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Did you see that old tank they got back with the old turret and gun earlier ,well that is now a missile launching platform system now.

You can call me Al

No I didn’t see it, but bravo anywhere. SWEET.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Looked like an old T80 but can always use the chasis as they are still useful and solid.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Well they showcased it with the deck plating and the 3 large missile launch tubes, always use anything for warfare all can be re-purposed for such use, turret gone use it for missile launch system.
