The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have captured the village of Hasnawi and the nearby hills from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in the northeastern Hama countryside.
According to pro-government sources, the SAA and the NDF are now able to consolidate their positions east of Um Sahreej and to prepare for an advance on this Hayat Tahrir al-Sham-held village.
This advance is ongoing amid the continued clashes between Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement in the southwestern Aleppo countryside and Idlib countryside.
Is there any chance of an overall map of the area to put this into context please?.
I’d say a small piecemeal advance along the Ihtreya-Khanasar road, near the corner where it turns from east to north. An ongoing limited operation, nothing more, as most of the crack SAA troops are still in Eastern Syria.
It seems SF considers this insignificant little village more important then correct updates on the city of Al Bukamal.
Imo the real fight for Idlib still has to begin. This piecemal gaining a village here, losing one or two there serves nothing except gets people killed. It would be different if there is a strategic purpose. I cannot identify one though.
That is true, but this limited operation is designed so the final assault would be easier, which would probably be from Latakia and Aleppo to take control of the border and a splinter of die hard Shia fighters heading to Fu’ah and Kafraya. SAA stil needs a significant force in the east and south. They are just shortening the front line for now.
Cheers
Islamic World News is one of the best sources for this (SF usually uses it’s maps), and it’s interactive map. They update the interactive map every couple of days.
I hope you find it useful.
many thanks :)))
Much appreciated – Thank you.
It’s interesting while the fighting between HTS and Noureddin-Zinki continues to no end, foreign fighters close to or of HTS signed a petition and asked the two to put and end to their clashes. As ISWN points out, notice that 49 out of total 75 are Saudi nationals. http://iswnews.com/media/2017/11/%D8%A8%DB%8C%D8%A7%D9%86%DB%8C%D9%87-%D8%AA%D8%B1%D9%88%D8%B1%DB%8C%D8%B3%D8%AA-%D9%87%D8%A7%DB%8C-%D8%AE%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AC%DB%8C.jpg
The names of some members of yet another takfiri group, named “Iranian Sunni Movement” can be seen too.
Without Saudi Arabia (and modern liberalism/cultural marxism) the world would have been a better place.
Without Israel as well as the Saudi Royals.
I Agree. But they both are created/supported by Zionists, better to uproot the source of problem and it’s branches will fall off.
You are always talking about Zionism.
Not always, just most of the times. When we talk about Wahhabi/Saudi and cultural Marxism it’s impossible to ignore their role. They poke their noses where it doesn’t belong.
Plus, it’s “trend”, I’m pretending to be an intellectual by doing so. Why do you care?
Pity nobody is fooled by my “deception”.
Man, are you trolling?
