RT reported that the Syrian foreign minister, Faisal al-Mekdad, said that the campaign against Russia is similar to the misleading one which was targeted against Syria before. He described it as a kind of “media terrorism” that aims to limit the Russian role worldwide.
“We are in a direct connection with the Russian administration and we are discussing with the Russian officials the situation in Syria and the latest updates on the international panel and the west escalation against Russia during the last few days. The escalation comes in context of applying much more pressure on Russia to prevent it from playing a main role worldwide, including its supporting attitude towards Syria’s war against terrorism, which it suffered from during the last years, and which is supported, both financially and militarily by the west who are targeting Russia now”, al-Mekdad added.
“The deception, falsification, and fabrication of events that the west media is waging against Russia recently reminds us, as Syrians, of the campaigns that were targeted against Syria during the last period in which the west exercised the worst kind of media and economy terrorism in addition to the worst deceiving propaganda that claims a criminal to be a victim”, he added.
Al-Mekdad also notified that the west aims to deprive the world of the balanced role the Russian Federation is playing under the administration of Vladimir Putin and to limit the multipolarity which began to gain support worldwide clarifying that the terrorism supporting countries for political ends are the same who are attacking Russia now and threatening to impose sanctions on it.
As for the future of the relations between Syria and some of the Arab countries, al-Mekdad notified that there are a lot of connections with these countries to overcome the consequences of the previous stage in which the relations came through as a result of the terrorist war on Syria and their support for it.
The foreign minister notified about the formation of a new awareness among some Arab countries that were complicit in harming Syria, indicating that Syria, which has always sacrificed for the sake of its Arab brothers, seeks to rebuild Arab’s positions anew and eliminate the remnants of the past.
“We are optimistically looking at the present and the future and we are really glad with the visits made by some of the Arabian delegates to Damascus and with the visits we made to some of the Arab’s countries”, al-Mekdad said.
