The Syrian government forces have deployed at least 2 surface-to-air missile systems (photos below) to the area of Hasakah in eastern Syria, pro-government social media account reported. The move followed Pentagon’s statement that the United States is ready to shoot down Syrian warplanes over Hasakah.
Why would Syria do that – I thought they loved the U.S.?

After the 2012 attacks by Al Nusra and associated terrorist groups , the government lost control of some of the areas of the city. Either Buk-M2 or Buk-M1-2 and S-200 If they can supplement them with anything that could combat PGM’s that are shot from a fair distance and provided with ECM systems to help protect them from EW systems, then it would pose as a threat to the US. Ideally, using Pantsir-S1 and OSA/Strela-10 would compliment the systems to provide protection against the US PGM’s and any kind of Drones and Helicopters.
Second system, S-200, will require radar systems, command modules, etc in order to be functional. Bringing in some mobile command and radar systems would be a huge deterrent. If they can quickly build an airbase that would also have aircraft flying from there (MiG-23’s and MiG-29’s) they could have a very effective base that could pose a huge threat to US and may force US to back down (a bit of course).
We may see in coming days either or of a situation where PGM’s will be used to destroy these air defense systems, or the Kurds being used to go and hit the facility hard on the ground. The Syrian Arab Army can position tracked vehicles in the desert wherever they want. Roads are turkey shoots for Russian aircraft. The Kurds won’t move unless Russia says they can.
Ever since Clinton’s second term the US has been consistently acting internationally and domestically as a criminal, disregarding its own laws, international laws, the sovereignty of other countries, and the US Constitution. A worse criminal government has never existed. Yet, Americans remain subservient to the criminals that they have placed in power over themselves.

Are these the same anti-air missiles that are useless against Israel F-16’s? If Damascus is bombed by Israel whenever Israel feels like it and Syria is helpless. Then these are extra helpless against USA F-16’s which have more upgraded packages. If Iran and Russia are serious about defending Syria, then they must start first by shooting down Israeli and USA planes. Plain, simple logic.
Russia has all of Syria covered and more with S-400s and S-500s aboard ships. I think Russia will have given Damascus a green light to protect their sovereignty. It is their right.
Also it should be noted Baghdad nor Damascus invited the additional US troops and the UK/US special forces. What are they doing there, and why are they allowing ISIS to roam across the borders?
First off, their is only one S-500 system which is a prototype, and that is in the Moscow region when activated. Secondly, Israel bombed Syria a few weeks back, and Russia never engaged them. Russia does not shoot down Israeli or US planes. I think they should, but they do not. Sadly, Syria is always left alone when dealing with Israel or US bombing them. This is a difficult situation for Syria to be in.
The Russian’s S-400 is at sea level and on the coast. It is blind to it’s east because of topography any jet from the east with anti-radiation missiles would make quick work of it. The tracking radar is so very slow, because it lacks processing power. The plane could fire 4 missiles bafore the S-400 could lock. Mountains cannot be moved and the Syria is not geographically friendly.
The Syrian Army certainly now has the initiative. Recall, they shot down a Turkish jet some 3 years ago with this same system.
