Syrian government forces are preparing for a military operations against ISIS cells in the Homs-Deir Ezzor desert, according to pro-government sources.
Earlier reports appeared that units of the Tiger Forces and other pro-government factions are set to be deployed in the area in order to strengthen Syrian Army troops operating there.
After the libeartion of the area of al-Safa by the Syrian Army, the Homs-Deir Ezzor desert, including the US-controlled area of al-Tanf, remained the key area where ISIS cells operate on the western bank of the Euphrates River.
Damascus has repeatedly warned that ISIS units use the US-controlled zone of al-Tanf as a safe haven to avoid attacks from government forces. Now, when the evacuation of US forces from the area is expected, the Damascus government is preparing to deliver a final blow to ISIS cells in the desert.
